A new survey from CW. This time about the SH21

Post by albionphoto »

Did anyone else have this drop in their inbox today? It's quite interesting and it looks as if CW are pondering new takes on the SH21. Please vote for the annual calendar if you take it...

A survey email dropped in my inbox this morning too.

I've yet to take a look at it.

I addressed it..mentioned that I thought it was a mistake to discontinue the C8..

Personally, I’d be wary of giving surveymonkey your email address.

Got it. Did it. Hoping for the voucher. Excited to see some new SH21 watches! I told them to offer it as an option as standard in their flagship model.

Yeah, I got one too and completed it as requested. Hard to see how it will help them if they get a mixed bag of replies - for example about which movement finish you prefer. Good advertising though.

Sorry, I didn't vote for the annual calendar, or anything dressy. But I did mention something about the number of convoluted dials they keep churning out.

Never had a problem with this.

^^^ Surveymonkey has been around for a long time, they’re a reputable company. There should be no issue or concern doing this survey.

Biting my lip here, trying not to give them a dressing down about what I perceive as inherent issues with their escapement. I am far from over having to send my C8PR back for repairs. Seems like they are putting the cart before the horse making new embellishments without taking care of basics like MAKING SURE THE THING WILL RUN RELIABLY BEYOND THE WARRANTY PERIOD. Sorry, but I think that needed to be said. I have 75 year old Hamiltons that have been in my family since new and aside from a service every 25 years or so have never missed a beat.

^^^^Check their reviews on TrustPilot

63% are 1 star, only 26% 5 star

^^^^I was firmly in the 5 star group....Until the thing quit. After all, it only ran 10 days a month at the most.
The fact that they had their own manufacture, IMO, always set them head and shoulders above most all other "value" brands. Not so much if their greatest claim to fame is less reliable than my $150 Seiko.
Better to put your energy into fixing what's broke, if they can ever admit there is a real problem.
To be clear, I am not a hater, just dissapointed. Guess I had better relay my feelings in the survey.

^^^ He was talking about trustpilot reviews for surveymonkey, not CW. Looks like they get terrible reviews as a company. All their bad reviews are from customers who use it to create surveys. Totally off topic though.

I’ve never had a watch with the movement in, so I don’t feel particularly qualified to comment. I have to say I’m not a great fan of these online survey and feedback sites. Or shed loads of marketing emails for that matter. I take the CW emails and those for a couple of other companies, but mostly I unsubscribe and most of the survey and feedback requests go straight in the bin.

I didn't return the survey. I don't have a watch with this movement.

In any event, I just want a movement to be reliable, accurate, and serviceable. Having an attractively designed movement that can be seen is a great bonus. In fact if it can't be seen it's hard to see the point.

If you can't guarantee the first 3 though, you are probably better with a mass produced movement that does satisfy these requirements, so that if it came to it you could just replace the movement with a brand new one, without having to worry about difficulties refitting hands and cases and crowns and so on, and obtaining spare parts in general.
