If you have got 5 CWs and recently a c60 sapphire blue dial I'd say that they are doing quite well.

Which models do you have? If the release of the c60 sapphire blue was enough to persuade you to buy what is deemed yet another diver release what they have done has worked.

Maybe someone doesn't like the blue and the release of the orange variation you question has persuaded someone else to now expand their collection like you have. Again, a success.

I'm sure if there is a perceived demand for dress or aviation etc they will release something in time but there are other brands out there you could try. In the meantime as a massive CW fan you could admire what is a clear success and launch of various models and designs by the brand whilst you wait for their focus to change.

To have a wide range of models takes capacity and variations on a theme is easier to do. To create such a wide range without capacity would be difficult to do whilst maintaining available stock, meeting quality standards and also appreciating the need to support those models for years ahead.

It can only be an incremental process and perhaps the best things come to those who are prepared to wait.

OK - don't mind sharing my CW collection...

in order of purchase latest first:

C60 Sapphire Blue - Steel Bracelet
C8 Power reserve Black
C5 Slimline Square Blue (old CHR WARD logo)
C11 Black (old CHR WARD logo)
C20 Day Date (1st CW LONDON logo)

I got the blue C60 because I didn't have a diver watch before, and also they had a 20% off promo at Christmas, also there weren't many other new things in the range I liked.

I try not stick to one range because we all wear watches for different occasions... Must say - out of those my favourite has to be the C8 SH21 Manual wind. Back then - there was a diverse range (and prices were a little kinder on the wallet), nowadays I wait for the sales and snaffle up a discontinued model or one of the press release models.

Looks like you have a varied range to select from in the meantime.

Maybe a future release will allow for a replacement to one of the older models you have. I wouldn't hold my breath for a 44m aviation replacement though!

If innovation and choice left with CW himself maybe you could look to Tribus...then again, even for a new company they have the same models with lots of variation of dials etc, no divers though  !

Looking at a possible Bremont or Farer next, since the current CW range is somewhat limited to my taste - lol!

Thanks for the support:

Re - listing my watch collection: Of course its just either people who are curious about what's in people's collections, or indeed check whether I've got the credentials - because they look at my post count and think what does he know?? But its fine! Next - they'll be asking me for the serial numbers!

I think that's a great option.
It's a shame you were asked what CW you own, seemed a veiled and contrived way of validation of an honest opinion, but probably wouldn't expect anything less.....
The alternatives you suggest are fantastic and I wish you well if you feel disappointed and uninspired by a brand you obviously have enjoyed in the past and spent hard earned money on.
At least you haven't even considered the ludicrously suggested brands that were offered probably out of spite....

Yes i like like the British angle with a Swiss engine / influence. Bremont Martin Baker looks good - but pricey, maybe second hand (pardon the pun) -watchfinder & co...

I agree with their pricing, but as with many brands ( including a certain platform we're actually on Image) the mantra is not to buy retail.
Not sure if you're a Facebook user, but the Bremont fans page quite often offers up some gems at great prices.
Personally I find Watchfinder expensive but you do have some reassurance you obviously don't get with a private sale

Yes - nearly got a Bremont MB from them a couple of years ago...you do get go there, try it on, see the box, papers etc, and get a fair assessment on your trade in... its OK, apart from the re-touched photos of the watch in question on their website - and when you see it in the flesh its not like the photo! Bit like internet dating really!

I asked to get some context as to what your CW collection consists off, older, newer, how many divers already etc. Simple as that. It was not intended as a test. You are a bigger fan of CW than me.

I am sure that you prefer to be asked questions rather than just ripping your initial post apart. I assume a discussion topic is to prompt debate and questions. If it was assumed to be a critique of your credentials by you and whoever the other person is, I can assure you that it wasn't. What it does tell me is that you have some older models that are quite different and that it would be unlikely I believe that CW will be repeating them in the very near future.

The reference to Tribus was a joke in relation to the original post and the irony that if innovation left with CW himself it hadn't realised itself with that brand yet in terms of range and significantly they have the opposite in terms of dive watches...None.

Good luck with your Farer or Bremont.

I've got two children to tell off at home, I don't have a need to do the same with strangers on the internet. It was a simple statement of fact with no finger wagging. We can only appreciate brands for what they are.

Good for you. Lets cool it my friend... At the end of the day we've all got better things to do than misinterpret what each other was meaning, or take things the wrong way and get into battles that look pretty pointless - this isn't pistonheads!

I don't know you, you don't know me, and no-one really cares... at the end of the day, I just call it as I see it... but if I see another C60 special edition - I will cry! VIVE LA FORUM!
In all seriousness I've not said anything to have a go at you and I've not been remotely offensive or argumentative. However, you seen to be determined to be offended so I'll wish you a good day and I hope you enjoy all of your current and future watches.

Honestly, I really don't mind listing what watches are in my collection - this is a forum for CW fans of the brand. I myself love hearing about the different watches people own, and spending many an hour or so looking at the gallery in this forum. As you can see from the rather modest few CW watches that I have collected through the years, yes - I've got the creds my friend.

My initial post, as a long term customer and devotee of the brand (I have a rather lovely hand written note from Mr. Christopher Ward himself that came with my C20 wishing me well on my wedding day) was purely my observation that the brand, in my opinion (standard forum disclaimer!) the brand is getting a little bit samey with the multiple new releases of the same model, compared to where it was a few years ago, and to start a discussion on that...

Of course its going to attract a lot of opinions, and that's great... Its really good to keep the debate going! Sure, there are some forum snobs, as there are everywhere on these type of discussion boards. Sometimes I'll read something or someone else will, and take it the wrong way and react, or patronise or whatever, but honestly - I couldn't bloody care less about that... what I do care about is the CW brand. I really hope they keep their independence and pioneering spirit alive like they had in the old days, and not sell out... both literally and range -wise.

I really do hope they get out of this rut they seem to be in in my opinion (standard forum disclaimer!) and start doing more entirely new models. Let's see more of the in-house movements like the SH21, more of the single hand jumping hours, different cases and shapes...

I think one thing this thread has shown, is that CW has some ardent fans that would like to either build an entire collection of varied CW styles, or at least have a collection that includes CW's from a wide range of styles. I think that this is a strong statement about the following that CW has built, and I can certainly appreciate that some of us would love to own a wider range of CW products. They have definitely proven in the past that they CAN produce nice watches in the dress and aviator styles, (and my own C5A is still a favourite). However, I'm going to suggest that maybe we need to look at CW a little differently:
CW can do one of 2 things: They can deliver the best possible watches across a narrower range, or they can invest they same amount of energy into a wider range, with predictably less satisfactory results. Every new model requires a significant investment of both time and money. CW, like all of us, certainly has limited amounts of both.
As a point of comparison: You are a Porsche fan, and have a garage full of them. If you want to buy a pickup truck, do you 1) lament that Porsche doesn't make a pickup, and try and campaign for them to build one, or 2) accept that they are sportscar specialists, and instead seek out the best truck for your needs?
Maybe we need to look at CW the same way?
