Re: The Golf Topic
Today's effort, too hot, too tired, but beat my course best Stoke score by 8 shots, so very happy.
Stableford score 42.

Anyone figure out exactly what watch Collin Morikawa was wearing on the podium?

Re: The Golf Topic
Local club, 15 minutes away. They have a full course, par-3 course and driving range. Pro seems a nice young lady and sounded very positive on the phone this morning. I aim to go for lessons and use the driving range for a while, then play some par-3 golf with a couple of friends before venturing out onto a full course. I wouldn’t want to step onto the first tee and look like a complete plonker. I need to build up a some confidence first.

Re: The Golf Topic
Don't underestimate par 3 or executive courses. They are great for working on the short game. In my opinion, that is far more important than just hitting long drives.

Re: The Golf Topic
This is exactly what I did last year, and started on 9 hole courses before trying out a few 18 holes. I can find the time to play 9 holes fairly easily and I really enjoy it. The occasional 18 hole is great too when time permits.Amor Vincit Omnia wrote: ↑Mon Jul 19, 2021 10:49 am

The one thing I've realised is that more often than not the people you see playing in the groups around you have the same bad shots as absolute beginners so it's pretty difficult to look like a complete plonker. That's what I've been telling myself anyway.

Re: The Golf Topic
I certainly wasn’t underestimating them, Kip. But when I played in the past my short game was almost acceptable on the right day. Off the tee I was practically always abysmal!
Playing the par-3 courses will probably boost my confidence in that area while I learn to hit the thing properly at the driving range.
