My SH21 C65 has stopped working...

Post by RichM »

... all fine today, 4 days left in the power reserve and it's worked perfectly until I realised it had stopped this evening at 8.45.

I've had it 4 months so I'll contact CW in the morning and arrange for it to go back for a repair.

Sh*t happens but I'm a bit disappointed.

I'll let you know how it goes.

Certainly I can understand your disappointment, but you are right....sometimes crap happens. :(

I am sure CW will set you right.

Thanks Kip, I've no doubt CW will sort it.

Covid may delay things according to the website. At least I have another CW to keep me on time until this issue resolved.

Rich.

Would you know whether it had justran out of charge, and the power reserve is not working correctly, or whether it's the movement itself?

Nah, it should have been running with plenty of charge consistent with the power reserve dial as I'd been wearing it continuously.

I can hear the rotor spin but there's nothing happening so I'm assuming a problem with the movement itself.

Sorry to hear this Rich :(
Hopefully you'll get it back in a reasonable time all sorted.

My C8PR has a similar problem (though manual wind) it won't hold a charge. I think something in the escapement has snapped as I first noticed it during winding when I could not load the mainsprings and the power was transmitted directly to the going train.

More frustrating is that we'll have to wait until the workshop is open again.....

Thanks, I was really enjoying it so I hope it's an easy fix. It's easily my favourite watch.

Is yours awaiting repair as well? I'll be sending mine in as soon as they're accepting repairs. Maybe this is a feature of the SH21 movement!

´fraid so. Mine is coming up to 4 years old and has run perfectly until now, so while disappointed, I'm open minded. There are enough SH21s out there so if it is something endemic I'm hoping CW will have picked up on any design flaws.

^^^True, just bad luck in my case I think.

Mine was running on average 11 seconds fast a day so perhaps that will improve once it's repaired. I wouldn't have sent it in just for that alone so it's a good opportunity.

Hmm, mine was doing about 1s a day - so I'm hoping it will come back just as good!

^^^ Haha, yes I wouldn't be pleased if mine was worse after it went in! 1s a day is very good!
