MBII Savanna

Post by TigerChris »

Well, it’s a little different - I really like the watch but not sure about the strap. What’s others opinion?

They lost me with “tactical” coating. That word is so used and abused in the marketing of products over here that it’s become a buzzword for “cheap crap marketed to the ‘special operator’ wannabe.”

That being said, it is an intriguing watch. With all the light coloring, I wonder about readability.

^^^^ From Bremont's release email received a few minutes ago;-

". . . .include an anti-reflective tactical protective case surface treatment, . . ."

Rubber strap, Chris? Shaped to look like a padded leather strap. Guess it 'does what it says on the tin'; ". . .chosen for its durability and suitability for all conditions."

I watched the Launch Video with Giles and Special Guest (Mr Baker, from Martin Baker), which gave a fascinating insight into the history of Martin Baker, the MB watches and the testing the watches undergo duirng development.

Overall a pretty impressive, high specification watch which might be a considered purchase at some stage (not my usual see it, but it remit).

I like a lot of Bremont models.

That one though is as dull as ditch water.

The Spitting Image John Major would probably have liked that. With a bowl of peas.

I watched the launch video too, Guy. I found it very interesting. How about that gold MB?!

The MBII is my favourite Bremont model.

The one that I have come closest to buying.

However I don’t like the look of the Savanna. Looks rather dull. A bit of a Walt colour scheme. Even more overpriced than the normal ones.

Why on earth have they gone with a display back?

Not a fan of this one despite being a big fan of Bremont.

It reminds me of the IWC Mojave Desert range which again, I’m not too keen on.

Definitely a watch that needs to be seen in the flesh before purchasing.

When I saw it I thought it was one in a new women's range, competing with Breitling's recent coloured releases for women.

Sorry Bremont, this is a dud.

The rather simple case shape is understandable since they're using Grade 5 titanium. I have to say though that the case is lovely. The dial and inner bezel worry me a bit. I'd like more contrast between the dial/bezel and the case. It's definitely a watch that I would need to see in person.

I’m a little confused by this comment? It’s the same case as Bremont use on all their MB’s, nothing to do with it being titanium. The trip tick case is universal across all Bremonts with the exception of the armed forces range.
