GShock metal conversion
I quite like the idea of the trusty Gshock 5610 in its all metal format. However not quite so keen on the £450 price tag for a bit of fun…
So I dug out my 10 year old example and ordered the metal conversion kit from aliexpress and sat back for the long wait….
Today it turned up.
Excellent quality with all the tools needed and spare case screws and qr pins for the bracelet. Should be straightforward so remove the strap Remove the 4 case screws and take off the outer case. Still easy! Everything looks to fit just nicely so put the new case on and size the bracelet which now fits to the watch with QR pins. The links are all held with spring pins which I haven’t come across before but makes life easy…. So now I have my full on bling full metal gshock but for a fraction of the cost. I think I paid about £65 for my 5610 years ago and £45 including delivery for the kit.
Well pleased. Wot ya reckon?

That's fantastic! I seen this online some time ago and considered doing but let it be for some reason. I may have to reconsider.

I am pretty sure Jody on Just one more Watch did the same thing. Worth finding his video and comparing notes
Here's his metal g shock. He also did a titanium one, and various other things that might interest you.

As others have said already, that looks fantastic! Job well done! And what satisfaction to have done it yourself.

Re: GShock metal conversion
I did look at the titanium option but it was quite a bit more expensive which put me off a bit. As it happens the steel is not over heavy anyway.JAFO wrote: ↑Fri Jun 18, 2021 2:43 pm I am pretty sure Jody on Just one more Watch did the same thing. Worth finding his video and comparing notes

Cheers for the positive comments. Zero skill required fortunately.

That makes so much of a difference, saves scrabbling around in the tool box - and the size needed is always the missing one! Looks good too and you can always change back if you feel like it.with all the tools needed
I started out with nothing and I still have most of it left

Great conversion.
I have been just a bit more modest. Got aftermarket composite for mine.
And nato adapters.
And extra bezel. Just in case.

Cracking set of photos, thanks for your efforts. I think it looks great (with and without), you cannot beat an iconic Casio

Re: GShock metal conversion
Despite all the negative opinions of AliExpress, I've seen a lot of positive reviews of the available steel G-Shock conversions.
I've had satisfactory results buying car mod parts on AliExpress. I think it really comes down to researching what you are buying. I've ordered shift paddles and LED boot lights for my Golf on AliExpress, and will be ordering dynamic mirror turn signals this weekend. No issues with previous orders, and I don't expect any problems with the dynamic lights.

Re: GShock metal conversion
I didn't realize Ali Express deal with the vat. I didn't think they were, and I was going to get a £8 RM handling charge with any purchase. Just paying the vat isn't an issue really. someone pointed this out to me, so Ali Express is back on for me now.
