New arrival - Father’s Day Omega
You may have seen my recent thread asking for chronograph suggestions. Well, I researched and researched, pulled the trigger, and now it has arrived.
Omega Speedmaster Racing reference 326.30.40.50.06.001.
It caught my eye online, and I’ve got to say that in the flesh it blows away all my expectations. It’s everything I wanted it to be. Wears really nice on my wrist, even with the 15mm thickness, likely due to the concave case back. The 40mm diameter and compact lug to lug helps.
The dial really is awesome, a brushed silver that is almost black in some lighting to bright reflective silver in the right light. The waffle pattern on the subdials (omega calls is Clous de Paris) also really catches the light, and even though it’s black, it’s so reflective it almost looks white sometimes.
The bracelet is comfy, but boy did I have a tough time getting a couple of screws out. Pins all the way, please!
The clasp has a 2 position micro adjust. Not CW level, but nice enough I guess
And the yellow accents really do it for me. I’m super pleased. Absolutely chuffing at the bits!
It’ll be a family heirloom. This was a purchase for Father’s Day to commemorate having TWO children in 2020. Not my first Father’s Day, but my “last first”. My daughter was born in January 2020 after 5+ years of failures and medical procedures for my wife, and then finally IVF in 2019. Then to our surprise we got pregnant naturally in April 2020, but our son was born almost 3 months premature in November and spent 49 days in the NICU. We were actually in the middle of a cross country move, all our belongings had just arrived in Michigan and we were about to hit the road from Florida when he was born. We were stranded 1000 miles away from all we owned, in an empty house we had just put up for sale. We’re all perfectly healthy and happy now, but it was quite a ride there for a minute.
Well anyway, there’s my life story for you
I know what you’re all here for though, so here’s some watch pics!

Wonderful watch made more so by a moving backstory! Enjoy and wear in good health.
Is that a keychain to the right in the fourth picture? And we’ll need a lume shot at some point in the appropriate thread.

I’m curious about how the yellow tropic strap from Guy’s #BumbleBeast would look in this.

Wow, that's a spectacular watch, Alex, congratulations. Love the gunmetal silver with the yellow accents. I'd love to own an Omega one day, as much for the box as the watch, they're things of beauty. You have quite a back story there, too, which will always be inextricably linked to the watch. Delighted everything worked out well for you. Isn't it great when your research is validated?

Re: New arrival - Father’s Day Omega
Gorgeous watch Alex. A few years ago I was tossing up between your model and the red and black panda (exactly the same except for the dial and hands). The red eventually won out, but I have occasionally wondered whether I’d still own the grey and yellow version had I gone for it instead - yes, I sold the red one... Needless to say, I think yours a fabulous looking watch.
No bias towards Speedys from me either.
