Incoming...Valimor Caliburnus II Black Knight

Post by StrapMeister »

Something I saw that just really appealed to me.
Size-wise, for me, just perfect:
  • Diameter = 42mm
  • L2L = 49.8mm
  • Height = 12.65mm
It has a Miyota 8315 movement which has a 60-hour Power Reserve.

This WILL get easier as the day goes on PROMISE!

It was a Kickstarter project.
It came on a rubber strap but I also bought a bracelet separately as an accessory.
Arrived today :D

The case is finished in an aged steel effect, which is not a cheap effect, that looks and feels of high quality.
It looks a lot better in real life than it does in the pictures.
Nice touch with the black jewel in the crown.

There's a beautifully engraved scale effect gold colour rotor inset.

The rubber strap is very supple and has some great detailing on it.
The buckle is also very nicely done.

^^^ Nigel I will let someone else guess which dial colour, as I have no idea.

The red one looks rather funky.

Now when you set a future quiz question please try and ensure you don’t leave such a trail of evidence for someone to find. :)

OK...so it's the Black Knight
The colour of the MOP dial is just gorgeous, especially in the sunlight.

Bron...Eragon...Danaerys Targaryen...welcome to the world of the Dragon Riders!

I just think those are absolutely brilliant. Wacky, left-field and very cool indeed.

Cheers Steve
For me it was the Arthurian legend - there’s a lot of King Arthur theme going on with the overall design, complete with the sword blade hands, dragon scale bezel and details on the rubber strap and the buckle. :D
...and yes, something very different and a bit left of center!

Very nice! Very unique. I like the detail on the strap, and really like the detail on the rotor. Nice pickup.

Thanks
So what's not obvious is that the bracelet I got has quick release spring bars (as does the rubber strap).
So I've just re-sized the bracelet (with the freebie tool that came with the watch) and fitted it to the watch.
The bracelet has the same aged steel effect and dragon scale detail as the case.

The lume isn't the best I've seen but it's not bad.

Its very similar to the Valimor Makinthos owned by Gary (@gaf1958) although there's a major difference with his dial being fumee(?) not Mother of Pearl.

The similarity with the Makaidos (and indeed the first iteration of the Caliburnus) is with the case design, details and hands - these seem to be their trade mark in style.
Yes the differences are in the materials used for the dials - in the case of my Black Knight it uses an Indonesia Natural Mother-of-Pearl dial.
More details are in the campaign text here: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/va ... escription.

P.S. The watch got the seal of approval from the OH today :D
