Incoming - black on white

Post by Soporsche »

To resolve my recent itch for a 3 hander sports watch with black (or blue) hands/markers on a pure white dial, I looked at all the usual suspects Bremont, Oris, Omega, CW, Nomos , Tag etc.
I was convinced an Omega AT would be 'the one' and its a fantastic watch but didn't really give me much more 'feeling' over this for the additional £. I may still end up with one in the future though as its very lovely, particularly the model with blued hands.

In the end I returned to a well respected brand thats popular on here. This particular model isn't (wasnt) however very popular
Having previously owned a chrono of the model, I realised that less is more for me and the 3 hander fit the bill and my ageing eyesight.
It has motorsport (tenuous) influences, is an obsolete and IMHO a very underrated model, bit left-field, 42mm, least often found in white, bit Marmite, notable for its chunky lug shape and slightly odd bezel numerals.
I'm really looking forward to adding this to my modest collection, hopefully it will spend a lot more time on the wrist than its predecessor.

Crossing fingers it will arrive later this week, pics/reveal to follow. :D

^^^ That would be my guess as well, although I thought they are 41mm, rather than 42mm.

They are 42mm, so it sounds like a decent possibility.

It didn't take long, guessing it was the bezel and lugs comments? Mk1 was often described as 41mm or 42 depending on source but also had the fat bezel, Mk 2 thinner bezel and 42.

If it's the one that I think it is then I had my eye on that and was contemplating an offer but I am guilty of snooze and you lose!
Congratulations  and I'm really looking forward to seeing some pics.

Thank you, I missed out on one a short while ago which went for approx its full RRP when new which i couldn't justify..
This one may well be the one you spotted, it took 3 attempts and some bargaining, in the process I divested something for the equivalent of what I paid so all worked out well.

Great pickup. I think the 3 hander is the better looking version.

I like that one, Stephen. Black-edged hands and black indices make it look very legible.

Good choice there! I owned a black Grantour for some time and always thought I should have gone for a white one - it just looks classier. My opinion is unchanged; it’s a seriously nice looking watch. Congratulations.
