The TT Explorer is possibly the most Marmite Rolex ever. In a word, it's hideous. If they had stopped at a gilt dial and hands it might have been fine, but they didn't.
Overall, this is a disappointing year for new Rolex releases.
"New" Explorer is actually the old Explorer with an updated movement and Easylink bracelet.
"New" Explorer II is the old Exp II with an updated movement. This one is especially disappointing as this is the 50th Anniversary of the model.
"New" BLNR GMT Master II is just the old BLNR.
Meteorite dial Daytona is probably the most interesting release.
Weird marijuana dialled DJ looks like cheap Chinese knockoff.
Iced out Lady DJ is just as hideous as any other iced Rolex, and will probably sell like hotcakes.
The best part of this is that all those speculators that have been holding 114270's for resale just saw there inventory drop drastically in value.

Re: Steel and gold explorer
Nothing of interest to me in the releases. Fortunately I can just stick with older versions of the “updated” models.
As mentioned above a version of the Explorer using gilt text, plot surrounds and hands would have worked. All the better if not accompanied by the gold bezel and TT bracelet.
I note that there are already numerous comments online about the new dial options for the DJ. I saw this elsewhere.
Mind you the first response after it was posted was also amusing.
“That is great news. You mean you order a quartz watch that is hard to sell at a discount and receive an automatic watch that fetches a premium?:-)”.

My thoughts after seeing the (no doubt hugely popular) DJ "weed" dial:
