Re: My Oris conundrum, your thoughts requested
I think you probably know the (your) answer but as it's a choice of two, try this
One watch is heads, the other tails. If you are disappointed with the outcome, you have your answer!

Re: My Oris conundrum, your thoughts requested
Fascinating group of responses folks. I really do enjoy this "place" and its inhabitants.
Slightly disappointing that there was no "Both!"
I like to think of myself as broadly a logical person, however when it comes to watches the passion element throws that out the window. Not responding to a "need" here after all. Yeah, BCPD it is.
As for the BB58: I remain on 2 EOI lists, and whenever someone offers to take money off me I'll see where we're at on that one.

I agree, Chris, though you take your life in your hands asking the inmates to advise you on a watch purchase!
A few years back I asked for opinions. Mostly supportive but a few "No-no-no-no-no!" and "Gak!" responses. I bought it anyway and it's one of my two greatest. Cartier Tank.
Ask, enjoy the responses, but make your own decision.

Blasphemy! Who would dare say “No-no-no-no-no!” or “Gak!” to a Tank?! That is beyond my realm of comprehension.Amor Vincit Omnia wrote: ↑Sat Mar 27, 2021 9:57 pm ...but a few "No-no-no-no-no!" and "Gak!" responses.

Quite so Steve!
I do find these responses threads help a great deal in finding the heart and head balance, and that's happened here for sure.

That’s a spot on observation and an excellent way to put it!

Whilst my general preference would ordinarily be towards the Flieger style of the BCPD, I am strangely drawn to the Bauhaus style (very left field and un-Oris like) of the James Morrison LE which looks like it has a dial, the colour of which is to die for, plus you've got the JM connection which you will appreciate, but I wouldn't.
Is resale down the line a consideration? If so you're likely to be safe with the BCPD but the Morrison LE is on the niche side, so might take a while.
Either way. As Steve (AVO) advocates, have fun listening to us, but you'll no doubt make your own decision. Good luck (if you haven't already made it and bought one of them).

BCPD for everything apart from the Morrison connection which if it appeals to you then can't be quantified by anyone but you

As they are both so different this is one of those times that is logically justified to buy both
Personally I prefer the BCPD but can also see the attractiveness of the JM which is probably better appreciated up close.
Whichever you may choose, in the end you are guaranteed a good looking watch

Re: My Oris conundrum, your thoughts requested
The first, to be fair, was from a good forum and Facebook friend with very large wrists and a penchant for horological tableware. I used to josh him about "gorilla watches" so this was his revenge. He's actually very complimentary about the Tank.
The second I ignored, on the assumption that he was using the speech of Mordor.

Of the 2 def the bcpd. However if the 58 is in the mix I would wait for that

Re: My Oris conundrum, your thoughts requested
For my thoughtful and kind correspondants, situation update:
As I am still very much on "honeymoon" with my Formex, and the BCPD takes its place in front of the JM LE watch, there is no need to buy another watch this week (to snap up the LE) or month for that matter. But the BCPD is in my future, I was very impressed with it and sits VERY well in my collection.
There is no either/or with the BCPD or (say) the BB58 as the appeal is of quite a different sort.
I'm also rather keen to see CW's Aero Ti (another quite different piece I imagine) when it surfaces and this trio may well be this year's 3 watches.

Re: My Oris conundrum, your thoughts requested
Late to the party here but I would personally prefer the BCPD over the JM LE, the former being classic Oris, whereas the latter is a little non descript albeit a pleasant looking watch.
Reading your conclusion above, I think you are wise to leave things a while. If you still want the BCPD when you re-visit this in the future, then you will know that is the correct decision.
