What if your descendants want to sell these watches when they inherit them? Maybe they would appreciate having the packaging then, so they can get a higher price? Of course, you may well be past caring by then.

Packaging is a bit of a blight of the modern age (a first world problem, I know), as it usually takes up so much precious, household space. At least watches by their nature are small, as is the packaging.
There's nothing noble about selling family heirlooms. It's sometimes a necessity, but I have no intention of incentivize the commodification of anything I own. This is why the world sucks today.
