A Watermelon Watch
A Watermelon Watch

Just One More Watch reviewed this Kickstarter project. I'm tempted by the black and white rather than the watermelon version.
Fratello reviewed it as well.

Re: A Watermelon Watch
The watermelon version would be a fun summer watch. When I read your post before I saw it, I didn’t have high hopes; but I think they did a great job with the watermelon styling. Even the hour markers are little watermelon seeds!
I like it.
I like it.

I LOVE asymmetrical chronograph subdials

Re: A Watermelon Watch
The dial had me thinking of your recent symmetry/balance thread. This dial is very asymmetrical with both the subdials and the wording, but totally works for me!

Re: A Watermelon Watch
If the term ‘goofy panda’ isn’t already part of the lexicon I think it will be now. I really like the desert sky and, marginally more, the goofy panda. I don’t particularly like chronographs but I could see me wearing and enjoying one of these. I think that coming out of the greyness of lockdown will see these sell well

Re: A Watermelon Watch
That's all rather fun, if rather on the small side for my general preference.

I managed to get in with a Super Early Bird pledge. I've been a fan of the watermelon since I saw the renders last year.
The compact dimensions are great for me, and I've missed having a ST1901 movement in the collection.

Re: A Watermelon Watch
Interesting footnote (cough) is that the Desert Sky is considered an homage...

Re: A Watermelon Watch
I've never been sure if bagging a Kickstarter gets you the watch, or just gets you a discount. I take it that it always works as an advance payment, and you do get the watch at a special rate. Is that right?biggus_richus wrote: ↑Fri Mar 12, 2021 5:07 pm I managed to get in with a Super Early Bird pledge. I've been a fan of the watermelon since I saw the renders last year.

Re: A Watermelon Watch
That's about right.
It should get you the watch, or whatever item you've backed, with a discount but you pay your money and hope that the watch will be delivered.
There's no guarantee.

Re: A Watermelon Watch
I thought the watermelon was slightly too bright. Both the others are great. The open case back just adds more style and colour.
Another £300 to think about!

Re: A Watermelon Watch
I think these are a little bit high for what you are getting but I really like the attempt. I like the lime green tips on the seconds hand and minute sub dial hand on the black one.

Re: A Watermelon Watch
LOVE the colour of the Desert Sky dial. Really like the playfulness of the dial text. Hate the strap, but that's an easy fix. What isn't an easy fix is the horrible asymmetrical sub dials. Sorry Lindsey, but asymmetrical sub dials are a travesty and should never be allowed (personal opinion only of course)!
It's also about 1.5-2 times the price I'd expect to pay for a Chinese made ST-19 chrono.

To be honest... This is right up my street, maybe not the melon but the other colours are great.
I like my watches a little different - these fit that bill... Something to ponder...
