Long(ish) awaited incoming - Draken Benguela

Post by Bahnstormer_vRS »

Arrived this morning after a 24 hour delay in Frankfurt due to adverse weather; my delivery driver told me of 1.5+ metre of snow.

I'll unbox after lunch but in the meantime, any educated guesses as to what I've got. Clues have been left in recent days and I started a topic on it last year.

I’ll put good money on it being a watch.

It’s ok, I’m off to bed now, you’ll have unboxed it before I can make more mischief...

In one, Sir.

A few quick photos, and I'll do a bit of a write up later.

Excellent, Guy. That's how to package a watch - and the handwritten note is a classy touch.

Is it a current model?

Hi Guy,

A nice looking new arrival, I hope you enjoy it and don't get the bends when you test out its maximum depth rating :D .

Just as a matter of interest, which movement did you opt for the ETA or NH?

Very true and it is that which the watch is named after. I didn't get the inference in your post. D'oh.

Although Draken is a Kiwi brand, Michael Blythe who runs it is South African by birth, but now lives in New Zealand.

Hence the brand name and the names of all the watches have South African connections.

I went with the NH.

It's fit for purpose for the type of watch and I don't see any necessity to gild the lily, or go to the extra expense, by getting the ETA.

Wow, tool watch in the literal sense - you could use that as quite the hammer!

Enjoy another fun addition to the collection.
