Was only telling Guy the other day that I was going to thin out the collection. That went well!

Nick, I
really can't wait to see what appears in SC the day you actually *do* try to thin it out...
I severely doubt Aladdin would be in the same postcode...
Alas, you give me far too much credit!

I wish I hadn't clicked on the link. 1970 is the year I was born. Surely that's a sign I need to order one.

Top notch Nick and yes, my thoughts on you selling some of your collection are that.....
..... it'll simply never happen.

My 40mm 1970 turned up today as well as a WatchGecko black cordura strap with orange stitching. I'm very pleased with the look and the size is a refreshing change from my usual 43/44mm pieces.
Build quality is just okay, certainly not a Seiko Presage or a CW, and the crystal is a fingerprint magnet but there is something about it I really like. A lot. It's like it's a new old stock vintage diver from 1970... huh...surprise.
For $250 it's a steal.

It certainly looks good on that strap Phil, much better I think than the wtesp on mine.
I’m interested to see if there’s any particular thing with the build quality that you’re not so impressed with or is it an "across the board" impression? I certainly think mine is better than the average Seiko SKX or similarly priced Orient. It may not be up to the Presage level of finishes, but I think it’s excellent for the money (which you’ve already said!).
I very much agree with your assessment that it feels like a NOS vintage diver - but with a much nicer case back.

Finger prints? Maybe the crystal just needs a really good clean. Glass cleaner or a drop of vinegar on a cloth.
Glad you like it. I'd quite like to get one again.
