The Giant Panda has a white face with black patches around its eyes. A panda watch has a white (or light-coloured) face with black (or dark-coloured) sub-dials. A reverse panda has white (or light-coloured) sub-dials on a black (or dark-coloured) face.matski171 wrote:Still not too sure what everyone means about a panda dial? A chronograph that has the timing subdials at 3, 6 and 9 is often referred to as a panda if it has a white dial with black subdials - because the look of the dial reminds you of the face of a giant panda, with its black eyes and nose and white face.matski171 wrote:Wow did not know it would cost that much to add a auto movement.

Has anyone have a picture of all the C3's together?
A reverse panda is where the dial is black but the subdials are white.
Technically the proposed C3 chronograph isn't really a panda, as it doesn't have three subdials. Nor would any chrono be a panda if the subdials were at 6, 9 and 12.

Re: C3 drawings from CW
It's not a matter of "adding" an auto movement, the FLE had to be based on a current watch, the new C3 got the most votes and that is a Quartz movement. Any of the current CW autos would have been around the £1k mark. Everybody has a chance to vote for what they wanted (and more) and the design of a Panda dial won over the others.matski171 wrote:Wow did not know it would cost that much to add a auto movement.

Re: C3 drawings from CW
Are the subdials at 10, 2 and 6 not supposed to represent the two eyes and muzzle of the panda?
Do we therefore, in fact, have a Cyclopean panda?

Thanks, I just automatically thought the current C3 line up was quartz and auto.Mikkei4 wrote:It's not a matter of "adding" an auto movement, the FLE had to be based on a current watch, the new C3 got the most votes and that is a Quartz movement. Thanks for the explanation, that is another brilliant bit of info in the watch info bank. It is all adding up.Scrogg wrote:The Giant Panda has a white face with black patches around its eyes. I think we have a Panda that lying on it's side as if it's just 2 dials they should really be at 3 and 9 to denote the eyes and patches. Or call it a Vertical Panda as opposed to a Horizontal Panda?

Also, the C3 case is designed to fit its quartz movement. An automatic chronograph movement (7750) is significantly thicker and not going to fit in a C3 case. The FLE designs had to fit existing case + movement combos so that there would be no need to design and make new cases which would have increased the price.Mikkei4 wrote:It's not a matter of "adding" an auto movement, the FLE had to be based on a current watch, the new C3 got the most votes and that is a Quartz movement. Nope, you don't have a panda full stop!Amor Vincit Omnia wrote:Are the subdials at 10, 2 and 6 not supposed to represent the two eyes and muzzle of the panda?

You have a slightly Seiko derivative white quartz chronograph with blue subdials.
Am I being a touch harsh?

Well if you want to pick the fattest possible auto movement.....asqwerth wrote:Also, the C3 case is designed to fit its quartz movement.
