Completely agree with Kip's suggestion. That is what I will be voting for. Anything to get Slimline off the dial!

Will you be voting this time around or, as before, having an 'Admin Team' casting vote (if required).

These details are for the inmates to decide. I have not needed to cast an Admin vote yet (although the final was close), but will be withholding my vote as usual. The rest of the team will be permitted to vote in the coming polls.

I just thought I would toss out my own personal preferences.

Am I the only one who doesn't like "Limited Edition" on a dress watch? It's small text, I know, but a dress watch isn't supposed to draw any attention to itself. It's something you should see on a box or a tag, not a dress dial. I'd prefer something simple like "Twenty Fifteen" or similar. Ultimately, if it doesn't bother you, I'll support what you guys choose. Maybe I'm odd. :)

The first 2 FLEs had Limited Edition on the front.

The C20 2009 FLE is a dress style watch and is very popular even with those words on. I remember when I joined it had finished and been released but looking through the posts there was a lot of debate about the words on the dial with a lot of people not liking Limited Edition on the dial but more that liked it.

There was a thread not long ago about words on dials in general and after a lot of complaining about various ones practically everyone in the end came to the conclusion that you get used to the words being there and ignore them if you like the watch.

"Twenty Fifteen"

i think that's kinda cool. i like it when things are slightly different like that. it's not weird, but it's a little off-beat. i was in a band that was based off something that was the number 210, and we were "two.ten".

I think it's cool too. I thought 2015 with numbers didn't look right on a dress watch. Twenty Fifteen kind of keeps it maybe formal? It is the 2015 model, after all.

two.ten has a lot more presence than 210 for a band.

As much as I would like to see a plate on the movement like the 2011 FLE, I don't think we have enough space to do this.

I personally prefer Limited Edition on the dial in the same font and size as Slimline is now. I would also like to see Forum Limited Edition 2015 on the caseback.

I think that gets the point across and keeps things neat and clean.

Me three!

But I may be up for the twenty fifteen option if I could see how it would look

Hanging out at my mother's house eating supper but a little bored so I made some mockups. Maybe they will help. First one is blank. The forth one was my mum's idea and her favorite. :D

Limited Edition on the dial is the best for me. The year can be on the back, so the dial doesn't date the watch directly. I don't think FLE or Forum should be anywhere on the dial. Keep it simple and elegant and fitting within the CW design language.

Added the TWENTY-FIFTEEN option to the dial text.
Having owned a watch with years on the dial (Sinn LE) I agree with the comments about it dating the watch. However, I do think spelling out the date is something new and interesting, and if the watch became known as the CW Twenty-Fifteen, that would be pretty good IMO.

I did not add the two-line option, as that may be considered a step too far in terms of design alterations..

Proposed choices so far:

Crystal Spec
  • Museum Grade Crystal for additional £65/$85
  • Standard C5 Slimline crystal
Dial Text
  • SLIMLINE
  • LIMITED EDITION
  • FORUM LE
  • MAGNUS SLIMLINE
  • 2015 SLIMLINE
  • MECHANICAL
  • TWENTY-FIFTEEN
  • No text
Caseback Text
  • Magnus Slim
  • Forum Limited Edition 2015
  • Limited Edition 2015
  • Limited Edition
  • FLE
  • No additional text (standard C5S caseback)
(Let's worry about the font later, and let's assume the serial number will be in the form xxx/xxx for all proposals)

I find it interesting that all the discussion has been around the personalisation rather than the crystal - presumably because the museum grade crystal is a no-brainer decision?

I have noticed that the dial text has been assumed to be all capitals. But I thing some of the options would look better with just the first letter being upper case.
