Elimination process

Post by Kip »

As of right now we have 23 entries for the C5 Malvern Slimline and 30 entries for the C65 Trident Classic.

We had originally stated that we would have a runoff vote to determine 1 winner from each model. We are now thinking that we have to many entries for this to work effectively. What we are now thinking is to have an elimination round to reduce each category to the top 3 and then move to a final round before putting the winning models head to head to determine the next FLE.

The thinking at the moment is to allow you 5 votes with the top 3 vote getters moving to the final round. We are very interested in your thoughts.

I like it. I was wondering how we were going to wade through the sea of entries.

Sounds pretty good to me. It reduces some of the risk of vote splitting across versions that are quite similar.

Just my two pennyworth .
I think the elimination round is a very good idea as otherwise the winning entry may only have say 6 votes. I would suggest only three options per person as it's most likely that people have a couple of definate ideas as to what they like.

I think an elimination round is a good idea. As I'm assuming it's five votes in total and not five per model, I'd think that five votes is about right.

Sounds good to me too.

Voting is due to start on the 16th; isn't it?

I agree but then i didn't expect that many to be put forward. As there is so many to choose from I am happy to support Kips idea. If we only had 1 vote per model we would end up with a few designs each with only a few % the difference and at this stage I think we need to see the front runners and then take it from there.

If your idea goes forward can we get this round done quickly?

Elimation is the best way.

So quarter finals is every design
Semi Finals is 3 C65's and 3 Slimlines?

......and then finals is 1 c65 vs 1 slime line?

My feelings are if we get five votes in each category then five of each design should move forward to the finals. So we have a five v five in the semis. This is because of the minute differences that are within the c65 category so we could just have three white dials and blue indices in the final because they got six votes each whereas two blue dials got 5 votes each (and the people who wanted blue didn't change their vote to another blue design to make it six or seven) but don't go through so there is less choice in the end. I dunno if I'm making any sense.

Or am I reading it wrong and their won't be a page of C65's to vote from and a page of Slimlines ? And they will all be thrown in together and we vote for five? In which case I don't really like that lol

Generally makes sense but I don't think it should be forced that it ends up with one c5 versus one c65, if the vote ends with 3 c5s (for example) at the top, numbers two and three shouldn't get bumped for the best placed c65

i agree with sproughton. the best vote getters overall should be in the final vote.

and i like the idea of an elimination round to help clarify and get the discussion down to a few designs as opposed to all over the place.

I also like the idea, but would only like to have three separate votes EACH for the C5 and C65.

I'm a little fuzzy if both the C5 and C65 will each have a LE created?

or will the top C5 face off against the top C65 for the one watch which will be the 2014 Form LE?

i agree with sproughton too - that the vote should be open for either C5 or C65, as it's not clear so far which is the most popular. i also agree with having an eliminator - there are so many great designs - some quite similar to each other - that there's a real risk of splitting the vote many times over. let the voting commence! :D
