Re: Malvern C50 COSC
Very nice piece, and appropriate for CWL. If only I weren't so skint at the mo...

Re: Malvern C50 COSC
As a future purchase (post 2012 FLE!) I was thinking of something that could augment the "dress" selection:
Malvern?...Harrison?...Malvern?...Harrison?...
Damn, it just got harder

oh come off it, a C5 that's been bitten by a radioactive something & got itself a completely pointless certificate...are we really supposed to be madly enthusiastic about that??

Malvern C50 COSC
Eh. Yeah. It looks fantastic; is in keeping with the brand; and the certificate, like it or not, carries weight with watch fans elsewhere.highway62 wrote:oh come off it, a C5 that's been bitten by a radioactive something & got itself a completely pointless certificate...are we really supposed to be madly enthusiastic about that??
Re: Malvern C50 COSC
in keeping with the brand meaning that it looks exactly like an existing model , just bigger!

Re: Malvern C50 COSC
A mechanical COSC is great news (I had feared the C50 would be another quartz after the introduction of the C5Q last year) and the original Malvern is the right model to receive the treatment.
It still looks good but the round date on the original C5 looked better than this rectangle and I fear the lug width is too small. Similarly to the C9, the thin lugs make it look like an over-sized dinner plate on one's wrist. This is a shame as the thickness of case on the normal C5 just about gets away with it but from these renderings I will have to say "no". Of course, once I see real pictures I will obviously want it!

COSC is a standard to attain, surely. This watch is fantastic value for what it is.highway62 wrote:oh come off it, a C5 that's been bitten by a radioactive something & got itself a completely pointless certificate...are we really supposed to be madly enthusiastic about that??
Cheers,

Re: Malvern C50 COSC
Yup, your right. The exact same watch, bar the new (larger) case, rectangular day-date window instead of the round date window, and one piece dial instead of the two-piece dial. Other than those subtle, barely noticeable changes, (oh ya, and there was something about a COSC certified movement...) it's exactly the same.highway62 wrote:in keeping with the brand meaning that it looks exactly like an existing model , just bigger!
Sorry highway, but I have to say that this is a legitimate update to the original C5, much like the Mark II C8 and C5A.
