C50 Malvern Mk II Chronometer – Limited Edition

Post by Kip »

Today will bring the release of two limited edition models to the CWL line up...

One will be a surprise....here is a first look at the other.

CWL thought we should get the first opportunity to see this since they feel the forum is very important to CWL.

Thanks, Kip.

I have to admit that it bugs me that CWL's ETA/Sellita movement decorations in display back models are now so minimal. It may cost them a little more to order decorated movements, but surely their price increases can cover that little bit extra?

And this is a COSC limited edition model.

I feel that it looks bad for CWL because we've seen how nice their old rotors and ETA movements used to be. Even if they do not want to have cutouts in the rotor anymore and stick to their super-simplified rotor logo/markings, the least they could do is not leave the bridge surfaces so bare and utilitarian.

I raise this because we've seen what Steinhart can deliver at lower prices, with their recent titanium diver sporting the Soprod decorated movement.

I'm not saying that makes me more likely to buy Steinhart because they are generally too big, guy-ish and toolish for me. I much prefer CWL designs on the whole. But IMO it raises uncomfortable cost-cutting questions about CWL.

Absolutely agree with Asqwerth on the decoration.

And the Pulsometer is stunning.

Thank you Kip.
I would agree with asqwerth , i think perlage decoration would certainly bring out the bridge/plate surfaces .

I still like the watches however and agree with Graham , the Pulsometer is a cracking looking watch. 8)

Eh...if you can pull off the size, the C9 Big Day-Date is much better looking. Like someone else on here said, this is been there, done that.

Sorry, for me the day date is too prominent. I think this watch would be so nicer with a clear face.
