Excited to see the 38mm C60. Time to start saving my pennies, and hope for an orange version.

C7 Bluebird - horrible shade of blue, doesn't bode well for the other Bluebird watches coming down the line
C7 Italian Racing Red - maybe works on the brown strap, will have to see real world pics
C70 VW4 - lovely looking watch, but £599 for a quartz (even if COSC) is taking the ****$ (even if the DBR1 was similar in the past)
C60 Tridents in Blue & Orange - nice, but the blue is too near the 2012FLE. The main complaint is that they could have done so much more here, e.g. orange dial, yellow dial, BRG dial, etc. A missed opportunity.
And the other new watches in the magazine:
F1 Teams range - could be interesting, but few details yet
Typhoon Ceramic (Valjoux 7750) - could be nice, but will be pricey. Is this the C40 Mark II that Chris mentioned previously? No mention of an upgrade to the C40 was made otherwise. Nor a mechanical C3, which was also hinted at previously.
JJ03 GMT - sounds interesting, but please don't do it in a C9 case again!
Jumping Hour MkII - will be interesting to see this, similar price to last time. But please don't use the C9 case again! Also, if this is just the Rose Gold version previously proposed, the grumbles will all resurface again.
C60 Mini 38mm - sounds great, but I wonder what the colour options will be?
And given that everything else is going blue, why isn't there a blue C5 and/or blue C3? Grrr.

Yes and if you include a fairly conservative dealer margin of 30% on the CW that moves it up to £780!ianblyth wrote:Cheapest quartz Breitling at the moment - £1,920welshlad wrote:£599 for a quartz (even if COSC) is taking the ****$

Now that is more than Longines and TAG and I'm sorry but CW still does not have the Brand Equity to charge this much.
It wouldn't be long that the majority of CW will be more that £1k

Don't fancy a little bet on that, do you? Reckon I'd give the C9 case odds of 2-1 on!welshlad wrote:JJ03 GMT - sounds interesting, but please don't do it in a C9 case again!

So the most expensive CW quartz would be a bit more than the cheapest Longines / Tag?
Don't see an issue with that - the cheapest quartz CW (looking at mens watches) is:
http://www.christopherward.co.uk/men/vi ... t-mk2.html
at £165
so the correct comparison would be:
Cheapest quartz Breitling at the moment - £1,920
Cheapest quartz Omega at the moment - £1,750
Cheapest quartz Tag Heuer at the moment - £519
Cheapest quartz Longines at the moment - £670
Cheapest quartz CW at the moment - £165
Seems that CW are still keeping their value point

Re: New watches
Forgot to add the dealer margin so your calculations are out but I accept your point and count with why spend over £10 for any quartz jobbie!
Still don't think CW should be pricing any quartz model anywhere near brands that have more brand equity overall

Fair point - but would only hit just over £200...
I think (personal view) that for some people the movement is the only defining feature of a watch - so quartz = quartz = quartz all day long - and then the question of why spend more than £10 is valid... To others the watch is more than just the movement - for me it is also the look / the feel / the emotion / the expression of individuality etc. - all of which can take place regardless of the type of movement... then a price way above £10 can be valid...
and if your point is valid - then that is a different point from a price comparison between brands - it is a more generic point challenging all brands...
the point might be - how can CW make comparable watches so much cheaper? because as this illustrates - there is a huge markup on the other brands Tag and Longines are 2-3x the price for their cheapest quartz, and the others even more...
if we accept that a watch is about more than its movement then to determine whether a price is good we need to subtract that from the equation and ask whether the rest makes it good value...
and bear in mind that you can spend nearly £7,000 on a Breitling Quartz watch:
http://www.swisswatchesdirect.co.uk/swi ... tches.html
and they have plenty of models which are £2k / £3k / £4k in price...
suddenly the CW quartz at £600 ish looks very good value
I may be misunderstanding the CWL ethos / approach to life - but I don't think that they set out to make cheap watches - but to make the same quality watches cheaper, a very different concept - meaning that a £600 quartz / a £1,000 - £1,500 Jump Hour / a £2,500 mono-pusher are not indicative of CW becoming more expensive - but rather CW showing that they can take their philosophy into any sector of the watch market and deliver the same approach - high quality at prices well below the competition...

Re: New watches
Well presented Alasdair. CWL is not about cheap watches. Many confuse the 2 concepts and are therefore dismayed when a higher priced watch is released instead of looking at the value that is available.akirk wrote: I may be misunderstanding the CWL ethos / approach to life - but I don't think that they set out to make cheap watches - but to make the same quality watches cheaper, a very different concept - meaning that a £600 quartz / a £1,000 - £1,500 Jump Hour / a £2,500 mono-pusher are not indicative of CW becoming more expensive - but rather CW showing that they can take their philosophy into any sector of the watch market and deliver the same approach - high quality at prices well below the competition...

Re: New watches
The truth is, there are a lot of people on this forum who can easily remember the prices of earlier CW watches. In those times, just 3 or 4 years ago, a C7 Chrono quartz was < £200.
The reconciliation between that price and the positioning of the latest releases is a hurdle to be overcome, because, as far as I can see, there is no new added value in the watches - the specifications are fundamentally the same (COSC versions excepted), and the backup/warranty has always been top notch.
There is no doubt that watches from other brands have also increased in the same period, but I suspect CW's increases are larger (percentage-wise) than most others.
I also think CW's pricing policy has changed a bit... In the early days, the prices were low, but fixed, whereas these days, I think they are pricing in a regular sale/discount policy. Nothing wrong in that, but it needs to borne in mind.
