I had a really good week. I picked up a C65 Trident Diver that I’d been after and my C4 came back from the CW repair shop. Means I’ve now got a complete watch box for the first time in a while

An interesting spread of CWs across the years.

I see the C900 SPC has got the modified hands. Did you get that done?

Nice handmade (?) Box too.

Four great CWs there – plus a very attractive looking box.

Can’t appearances be deceptive? In your photos the Peregrine looks smaller than the Trident, and much smaller than the other two, though in reality the C8 is only 2mm bigger and the C900 only 1mm bigger.

Four great watches. I’m guessing the SP has 22mm lugs.

The previous owner did this. It was originally a full silver hands version, but they had the minute and hours hands replaced with black hands by CW. Now it’s a hybrid which I quite like. Box was handmade but not by my fair hands!

It is an optical illusion, the C4 sits lower on the cushion because of the bracelet weight. The C65 is the smallest at 41mm, the others then are as you say.

A really lovely quartet of CWs  8)
The C900 is the standout of course but the other three are very nice indeed.

A busy few months for me, and probably the most active I have been in finessing my collection. Is it finished? absolutely not (will it ever be ), but I’m feeling that all bases are covered.

I liked a previous post which gave a little overview of each watch, so am nabbing that idea, and giving an update on why some were chopped this year.

I have four slots in my watch box (and I’ve seen someone say before you need five watches for a four slot box, four to keep the box full while you have one on the wrist!).

I allocated out my slots as Dress, Flyer, Diver, GMT, and C4.

C65 Dartmouth: The replacement diver. Really loving this one, it is retro enough to make it distinctive, but doesn’t feel like that’s all it’s got. A lovely deep blue, looks great on the vintage strap, it’s COSC, and has a lovely blue fire when the light catches the case just right. *Chefs Kiss*.
F96BA1AB-2B71-45C4-A6C4-82215F6E79D9.jpeg
C60 GMT: The GMT. I have never really loved Divers, but I’ve now filled my free GMT slot with a diver. I do a little travelling (not right now), and work with people globally so I like to have a watch where I can see the times elsewhere. I had a long thread going on before I bought this one, and I was tossing up the C60 Elite 1000, the Pro 600 and the GMT. I made the right choice with the GMT, it makes me feel like James Bond ( 8) ), and I love that it’s got a gloss finished over brushed on the dial. I’d prefer that this was COSC (with the SH21 movement) and maybe one day I’d swap out for a true GMT (or if I can afford it a true Worldtimer), but for now this isn’t going anywhere.

C900 Single Pusher: My grail, I wanted one of these from the time I got my first CW, but couldn’t afford one. Fortunately a sale ad popped up at a fortuitous time on the forum sales section and I managed to snaffle it. A keeper forever!
7B27E5CE-AB16-4728-A188-0231641E13CA.jpeg
C4: My first CW. A friend had the white dial version of the C4 and I really liked it. I bought that version but didn’t bond with it, so switched to the black dial. Another keeper forever.
9DFC27AA-F2F5-437A-BDAC-0C97F9F4E8C9.jpeg
C8 P2725: The replacement flyer. A very recent acquisition which I am not bonding with. It’s less fussy that the C8 Worldtimer, so in that respect it is an upgrade, but there’s nothing making it pop for me. Ultimately I think this’ll end up being sold, and I’ll be on the lookout for another flyer (both of the C9 flyers, either the ME 109 or the upgrade of P2725 are favourites but I’ve not seen one come up).

And the ones that got cut (see previous post for photos):

C65 Trident Driver: I liked this watch, I really liked this watch, but it was a victim of its own success. A vintage diver was such a good concept, and this one was such a good example, I decided to fill my diver slot with it. After a couple of months though I realised that it was too niche, the shade of blue, the old fashioned lume, the font, it was all TOO retro for me and it had to go.

C8 UTC Worldtimer: Occupied the flyer slot, but what started to irk me was that a) the dial was a little too fussy, and b) it said Worldtimer but wasn’t a true Worldtimer (with an automatic rotating city bezel). a) matters, b) shouldn’t, but it did so it also had to go.
