SOTC Gower March21

Post by Gower8484 »

Thought I would do my first SOTC before it completely changes.
It has taken me 5 years to get here. I have sold many others (3 Tissots, 2 CWs, 2 Alpinas, 1 seiko) and I'm still not happy with the collection.
Want to go down to 6 max, possibly 4.
Will do another SOTC at the end of the year and it will hopefully look completely different.

The tissots were both gifts from my wife and among my first watches.

The Tag aquaracer was my first 'luxury' watch and the beginning of a very expensive hobby.
It is also my every day watch and is very beaten up but I quite like that, it even has a big scratch on the sapphire crystal. Might treat it to a service this year.

I'm really not sure how many of these watches will still be in my collection at the end of the year.
I'm not even sure I will ever be content with my collection!
I do love watches!

That’s quite a lovely collection. Can you tell me anything about the white dial Tudor? I’ve not seen that watch before.

Plenty of choice available for you there, and all good stuff. A very attractive box of goodies.

I'd be quite happy with any of those...

+1 the white dialled Tudor looks great.

The white dial Tudor is a grantour date.
It is also available in black and silver but the white seems to be very rare.
I love this watch but I am tempted to swap it for a GS 'snowflake'. One of my many watch dilemmas, haha

Good luck on the process! Looking over the collection getting down to 6 (with the two gifts from were your wife included - assuming they are sentimental keepers) would be a challenge for me! Great collection!

Awesome collection and thank you for posting. Might you share your initial musings on what will depart to slim down the collection? I've been doing the same with mine with a similar goal of 3-4 watches.

Very nice, quite a varied collection. I used to own a Grantour in black, but it went a little while ago as part of a consolidation, but on balance I probably prefer the white.

Well the green Ball has actually sold today.
The Ball genesis 2 '125 year anniversary watch' is also up for sale.
After that it is a real struggle to know what to do, I change my mind every couple of days.
I have thought at some time or another about selling each of the watches but then I wear it and fall in love all over again!
The speedy was on my hit list but then I put it on this morning and think that one will stay.
I will sell one of the Tissots... I think, but not sure which.
I would really like a GS 'snowflake' but the Tudor Grantour would need to make way for that and not sure if I would live to regret selling it.
Any thoughts from others?

@Gower8484 it is your collection so it's always tricky to make suggestions to others because it is based on my lens versus yours.....

So here are my thoughts (which carry zero weight btw)

Agree it's prudent to move on both Ball watches.

I'd consider selling one or both of the Tissot (if your wife signs off on moving them both and assuming they have no sentimental reasons for staying). Collections and watch tastes change. She could also be involved with one of your incomings to make it more special/sentimental.

Perhaps move out the Tag Aqauracer as the Tudors and the C60 have the diver boxes checked. I like the C65 as it adds colour.

The Speedmaster is the trickiest. Assuming the Tissot both depart its your chronograph...but its also a source of decent funding for your GS.

Godspeed !!!!

Nice collection, it’s amazing how many of us started down this route with a Tag.
