Oberonfoto - May 2020

Post by oberonfoto »

Not the biggest collection in the world, but every one means something to me or my family. The G10 was RN Issue for GW1, the Omega was my Dads 25-years service watch, the Swan belonged to my God father, the C60 Orange bezel was my first CW, the two 'Submarines" - Trident and EB - remind me of 22-years of great fun and hard work.

Thanks for posting! What leaps off the page is your love of Nato's (and guessing dislike of bracelets!). Always enjoy hearing about family history in watches passed down.
Small collection of timepieces that I enjoy

I’ve recently found out I’m slightly allergic to latex so been advices not to wear rubber. The C65 cane on a bracelet but think it looks as good on a Nato. I will wear it on the bracelet for high day and holidays.

Good to see the Submariner edition Trident and Canford in the collection of someone genuinely entitled to wear them.

A very nice collection. Those vintage watches are special!

The Submarine Service Canford was a limited run - think less than 600 were made the vast majority had the services Dolphins on them but only 50 have the Skull n Cross Bones on them. The reason Submarines fly the Jolly Rodger is because some crusty old skimmer Admiral said before WW1 that submarines are pirates and should be hung as one if captured so from then on boats - always boats never subs - returning from war patrols would fly the Skull n Cross Bones as two fingers to the establishment and do so to this day.
