I recently had my 1977 GMT Master 1675 serviced by a local watchmaker. I had the watched serviced by RSC NY in 1993 but I was reluctant to send it to them this time because I was afraid that they would change parts that I didn't want changed. I also didn't want the case polishd etc. I found a local guy that was reasonable and I was able to visit his shop and drop off the watch (before COVID hit). If anyone is interested, shoot me a PM and I will give you the details. He works on Rolex and Omegas mostly. He was kind enough to send me some process pics and I thought I would share them. It was fun for me to see the watch torn down.
Case back off and ready to dig in!
The detail on the movement is great. Notice it is stamped 1570. In fact it is a 1575. Rolex never stamped the date version. They were always stamped with the no date model number.
Rotor removed.
All of the parts are accounted for.
Ready for the ultrasonic cleaner!
Back together and back in my possession. It shows my battle scars from 25 years or so of daily wear. It started to run erratically 4 or 5 years ago so I only wore it sparingly. It mostly sat in the watch box. Great to have it back in rotation!
