Can anyone help?

Post by slates149 »

Hi
New to this forum so thank you for having me.
I wondered if anyone can help provide any detail on this vintage IWC pocket watch - only photos provided.
With my very limited knowledge, I believe it dates to around 1913-1924. However, is it genuine? I say that as I would expect IWC markings on the face and there are none.
The movement - is this genuine IWC?
Ultimately, I’m trying to authenticate and value
Thank you
Mick

Can’t help you with the watch, but the box is from a Norwegian shop. Kristiania was the name for Oslo until 1925.

Any chance of large scale photos?

Prima facie, the movement is not typical Swiss, it looks more American so that would fit. Is it not signed at all? Normally IWC sign "Probus Scafusia".

The fact that the dial is not signed is not unusual for the pocket watch era as many parts were bought in from specialist suppliers.
