Darwil – a brief history and a personal relationship
Re: Darwil – a brief history and a personal relationship
I checked the case measurements, all mentioned are correct.
I also left it alone for a about a day and it is still ticking precisely within a minute.
Here is a close up of the crown:
Thank you for the support on this, so I think next step for me is to take it for cleaning service.
Cheers

Re: Darwil – a brief history and a personal relationship
Just picked this one on local fleabay
Looks like piece of crap, it needs complete rehaul and new crystal but as far as I could see dial is vertical brushed gray, it has some kind of swiss automatic with Quick Date Change (intentionally in capital letters... Non quick vintage is PITA) and it is full steel. Off to rehaul soon.
Olymp 80 is series dedicated to Moscow Olympics already had one and sold it foolishly some time ago.
Also there is one from the same series on display in local museum of arts(!?)

These are quite rare TBH.

I have no idea. I have seen 5 variations :Quartz in museum, hidden lugs jubilee day/date blue dial, round case (slightly different than mine, with bezel and slim lugs) with blue dial day/date, square day/date I owned and this one. They all had "Olymp 80" on dial and vertical brushed dial.
Darwil models and quotas produced are black hole. No records, no serial numbers and endless variations.

Interesting that they also made a digital. Have to say I prefer your analog versions though, but the DPRK link is pretty cool though.

Re: Darwil – a brief history and a personal relationship
They made a bunch of digital ones. With some strange designs.. Even with solar cells.
Well.. It does not work. It works for a second or two then it goes off. I will carry it to my watchmaker to see what he can do.
As it comes to bracelet, it is off the watch, cleaned and stored as one of the strangest finds.
