The bezel has not been altered aside from the polished finish. The case is the standard C10 case that was voted for.

It is not for me, but I hope it is along before the year end because those of you who like it have shown exemplary patience, not sure I could have done.

Ok, now I am really excited. I think it still looks very simple and stylish, will be able to wear it for all occasions.

So why has it gone to a polished bezel? Hmmm. Much prefer brushed finish...

It was always a polished bezel, with a brushed case.mabotham wrote:So why has it gone to a polished bezel? Hmmm. Much prefer brushed finish...

Are you saying that the bezel is the same width on the side by side pictures? If they are then it's some optical illusion.Kip wrote:The bezel has not been altered aside from the polished finish. The case is the standard C10 case that was voted for.

I think it is just the difference between reality and FLEC renditions.

Well do forgive me Kip but it was the FLEC who designed the watch and it was their renditions that were put to the membership.Kip wrote:I think it is just the difference between reality and FLEC renditions.

No forgiveness necessary.....
I can't explain the appearance otherwise, other then, as you said, an optical illusion.

Re: 2013 FLE Progress Report #16
One only has to look at the photographs of the mainstream C10 to see that the bezel on the FLE is the same size as the normal one, with the optical illusion possibly being caused by the bezel being polished. As a result of reflections around the bevelled edge, the bezel looks wider.
As for direct comparisons with the rendered images, it must be understood that whilst the FLEC was comprised of incredibly talented chaps, all of whom could design watches all day every day whilst juggling bowling balls and frying pans, we were working with the tools and information available to us. My modelling and render programmes, for instance, are used daily to provide outstanding images of interiors, parks, skyscrapers etc but can I get a macro render without a bit of fish-eye causing mild distortion? Can I hell.
I would caution against direct comparison of the renders and prototype photographs and instead exhort an appraisal of how the concept has been brought to prototype.

Re: 2013 FLE Progress Report #16
I rather like that. It looks better in the metal than the render suggested. Losing the rehaut is a shame as it was a nice little feature but if it's simply not possible to achieve without compromising the case and/or the crystal then it's a bit of a no-brainer — and, to be honest, I don't think the overall design and appearance suffers any for this change.
A blue strap would be nice but then that's what after-market options are for...!
As far as the bezel goes, I also had always understood that the intention was to use the standard C10 case and bezel but brushed and polished, respectively, rather than the bead-blasted finish of the stock C10 Aviator. Looking at the physical prototype, it's obviously the same proportions as the standard C10 and I don't think the polished bezel contributes much to changing the appearance. For me, it's pretty much what I was expecting. Compared to the original FLEC renderings of the design then, yes, the bezel does indeed look rather different. Some of that will be the change away from having a rehaut but mostly I think it's just the limitations of the CGI rendered images compared to a photograph of a real physical object!
I had originally said I wasn't interested in one of these but seeing the pictures of the prototype I may have to revise that (finances not withstanding...!).
