2013 FLE - Watch Style poll
2013 FLE - Poll #1 - Watch Style
Please read before voting...
The first task of the FLEC team is to determine the scope of the 2013 FLE watch. Learning from previous experiences, we believe it is important to find out what you guys want - before any design work is done.
In order to confirm the basic requirements (scope), we intend to ask the following four questions in sequence....
1. What style of watch do you want (dress, diver, sports, marine, aviator)?
2. What should be the approximate target price?
3. Which movement should we choose?
4. Which existing case should we choose?
This poll is for the first question - watch style.
Clearly, as we get the answer for each question, it will determine the choices available for the next question - for example, if the forum wants a dress watch, it would be unlikely that we would suggest the C8 case as an option).
When we have received the preferences for all four questions, we believe we will have a solid framework for the detailed design work. We will know what sort of watch we are looking for, an approximate price point, and the combination of movement and case we should work with. At this point, we can ask CW to validate our direction - to ensure that we have a feasible and realistic target.
As supporting information, the table below shows the current prices/movements for the CW range. This is just to help your thinking...
In the poll, you will see examples of each type of watch. These examples have been included to help clarify the groupings. They are not intended as the basis for the FLE or to drive a specific direction, they are merely provided to aid the decision.
With all the above in mind, this is the first poll. The intention is to determine the basic style of the FLE.
Please choose one option. The poll will last for 4 days. You can change your vote at any time until the poll closes.

Ditto. The Stowa Marine is probably the next watch I will buy, unless of course CW does something similar. It would also provide a strong contrast to recent FLEs. Which existing watch would provide the basis for such a model is of course another matter.
The democratic nature of the 2013 process gets a thumbs up as well. Well done guys.

Re: 2013 FLE - Watch Style poll
Hmm. If I go for a dress watch may end up with a C1. But already had two of them. Divers watches are always good for an LE redesign, but already had two of them. Don't really want another aviator. Marine watch? maybe. Sport? could do. decisions decisions.

Re: 2013 FLE - Watch Style poll
Have to say that I'm a little bit surprised by the early returns of this poll. Didn't seem to be much discussion about a sports-style in all the different speculative threads that we've seen lately. I would have thought that dress would have made a stronger showing especially considering that a lot of people seemed to be in favor of some sort of modified C5.
Will be interesting to see how this shapes up over the remaining three days.

Re: 2013 FLE - Watch Style poll
i voted for sports. we've already had two divers (and i have one of those). i have two aviators (including a C8). almost never have a need for a pure dress watch (i think i wear a suit once a year and really stretch the "casual" in business casual). a sports style watch could fill a void in my collection.
i.e., a purely selfish choice.
