Quick Question re Straps with "Shoulders?"

Post by Tortoise »

Hi All,

Just wondering what the correct name is for straps that have "shoulders" .... (Sorry, I'm not sure of the correct term?)
Example in rubber shown:

(Image borrowed from Watchuseek)
ie: straps that are wider than the inside measurement of the lugs such that they might pick up the alignment of the outside of the lugs (for example).

In particular, I am looking for a leather strap to suit 20mm lugs. I have found that Di-Modell make some. Does anyone have anyone else have any manufacturers/suppliers they could recommend please?

All suggestions gratefully received..

cheers
Ian

Like this Di Modell strap?
Sinn supply such a strap on at least one of their watches.
I had Sandra Visser custom make me a strap with shoulders once: I supplied the extra dimensions and it worked well.
Edit: searching EBay <watch strap with shoulders>works. Select watches etc as the search category to eliminate shoulder bags

I think of these straps as 'notched'.

The DiModel Chronomissimo that Pete has shown is one of the best leather ones I know. They also do a basic Pilot version. Available from ukwatchstrap.co.uk and WatchObsession.

Watchgecko have several notched rubber straps available that fit the CW C60 Trident MkI and Mk2 well. Less so the Trident Mk3 as the lugs are less chunky.

Happy hunting.

^^^ I believe you are right, Guy.

Be sure to quote the width of both lugs and shoulders when ordering. For example, 16 mm lug fitting, 22 mm shoulders.

Rios1931 make these too and as with the Di-Modells that Guy highlighted, they can also be found on ukwatchstrap.co.uk

Some good suggestions here, If you want to have a go at adapting a leather strap yourself then a pair of 'Leather notching pliers' will be your friend and help make a proper cut.
