2-piece Natos?

Post by Leon O »

Are 2-piece Natos a legitimate option? or does the 2-piece design defeat the purpose?

I feel like I would be cheating if I go that route :?

When is a NATO strap not a NATO strap?

When its a two-piece or single pass strap.

The primary purpose of a NATO strap is to provide security that the watch will remain on the wrist in the event of the failure of a spring bar. This won't happen with a normal two piece strap.

The secondary purpose is the second layer of strap secures the watch on the strap allowing it to be hung up on a hook, without the watch sliding down the strap - reputedly.

I have to agree with Guy, these NATO derivatives are not NATO spec. Legitimate options, surely, but not NATOs.

They’re not NATOs, I agree. However I prefer them simply because they don’t have two layers of material between your skin and the watch... But most of the time I’d prefer a leather strap - unless it’s a watch that’s about to see some weather or water and I don’t have a bracelet for it. That’s when I use a nylon strap. Note, I did not use the term NATO in that last sentence...

A 2 Piece NATO is indeed known as a strap
