Elliot Brown webbing straps

Post by jtc »

Has anyone got experience of EB's "NATO 2.0"? I was window shopping for another Erika's and spotted these now listed at WatchObsession.

https://elliotbrownwatches.com/collecti ... bing-strap

Only in 22mm from what I can tell, but will work with 20mm lugs and is seemingly a nice British product...
The webbing is woven specifically for Elliot Brown by a traditional family run business, Bowmer Bond in Ashbourne, Derbyshire UK where they recommissioned a Victorian shuttle loom called Dolly, fed her with small batch dyed, textured yarn and set about creating a beautifully technical slice of fabric.

The patented buckle; plucked from Alex’s mechanical brain, is an engineering gem and typical of Elliot Brown’s inventive detail. Designed to hold the webbing securely in a hinged clamp and ladder lock, the patented buckle is a power of strength, ultra low profile and a cinch to use.

It’s the perfect marriage of crafted durable webbing and minimalist buckle who’s end result is the ultimate in fit-for-purpose straps.
This one looks great for a BB58/LLD.

I might order a couple to try them out - not seen them in my travels yet!
Jon

Hi Jon

I have a couple of the EB webbing straps and would highly recommend. Very comfortable and versatile, I've used mine on my C60 Abyss, C60 Bronze and my 2 EBs. Work with thicker and thinner case styles, I've not tried on a watch with 20mm width though.

It will come as no surprise for me to say that I have several of these straps in a variety of combinations. They are actually very clever but so simple at the same time.

A bit like a perlon strap to start with, as one end weaves in, up, down, loop back under, over and down through the clasp (or something like that) enabling you to get the length adjusted to suit you.

The clasp itself has a dog toothed catch that is self locking, but pulls to release.

It lies really flat on the wrist too.

The clasp comes in three finishes; blasted steel, pvd gunmetal and pvd lightly patinated bronze, which allows you to mix and match straps and clasps.

When the strap gets worn you can switch ends and turn it over for longevity.

The fabric of the strap has a lovely fine, smooth weave to it, without being shiny and slippery (like a 'luxury herringbone' NATO) and is supremely comfortable aided by being infinitely adjustable for fit. If there is one downside, for me at any rate, it is that the fabric is very soft with little torsional rigidity. With the factor that I like to wear my straps on the loose side, this means that it allows the watch, particularly a heavier one, to flop about.

Only 22mm; correct, but the fabric is soft enough that it will squeeze easily through 20mm lugs without looking too out of sorts; although I've not tried this yet.

I hope this helps.

Guy,
Is this the Dark Blue with Sky Blue stripe version? It looks almost mauve in your photo.

Yes, Tim; Dark blue with sky blue stripe, and bronze clasp.

I've just bought another one of these straps as wanted the bronze fitting to go with my C60. Great straps and easy to swap over, I think they all look great.

Great trio Dan the best of which, by a whisker, being the C60 bronze.

They look great Dan! Doesn't it work a treat with the C60 bronze. Like the photo composition too.
