BB58 Strap Selection
BB58 Strap Selection
Whilst my BB58 spends most of it’s time on the bracelet, I do from time to time switch it around with a wide variety of straps.
I thought it would be a good to show a selection, to give others an idea of how versatile it is.
The other reason is to help enable Chris (Noush) to stay focused and not change his mind about buying one!
Please post any straps that you have tried with your BB58 and/or comment on any that you think are good, bad or indifferent.
Neil

Re: BB58 Strap Selection
Great work Neil. Very helpful to owners and potential owners alike.
One question though.. In shots 1-6 did you actually have pinsin the straps that were engaged. I ask as my experience with black bays on straps is that they can be gappy but that doesnt seem to be a problem in those shots.
That first brown leather looks very good and a lot like the oem strap. Do you recall what it is?
thanks

Re: BB58 Strap Selection
That’s a great selection, Neil, and it does point up how versatile your watch is. Not sure which is my favourite strap, but my favourite picture is definitely the black woven strap (Perlon?) with the ducks in the background.

Re: BB58 Strap Selection
here is mine wearing the vanguard rubber strap designed for it. very good indeed
Cheers now, Paul
Re: BB58 Strap Selection
Vanguard looks the business Paul.
I need to try a fitted rubber at some stage. I think they tend to work better than non fitted rubber.
With my pics, you are correct that the six on the light background that follow the bracelet pic were just laid between the lugs, rather than attached.
The first leather, in pic two after the bracelet, is the OEM. The one at four, that looks a bit distressed, is a suede leather by JPM (from Watch Obsession).

Re: BB58 Strap Selection
I love it! Thanks for posting these. It’s a far more versatile watch than I would have thought. Any dark brown strap is going to look great on it I reckon. I also like number three very much, the green canvas and the two perlons. Great to see so many pics.
watching you fail in your quest for a “one watch” has been great entertainment

Re: BB58 Strap Selection
Thank you for taking the time to do this, there are some excellent options.
I have been looking at this for a while and thought it would would be versatile but you have certainly proved it.
Would defo go bracelet and then build up the options. Although availability of the original on bracelet is sometimes sketchy I have seen one in the window of Goldsmiths recently on a couple of separate occasions for a period of over a week each time.
Next time I will be tempted to go in an see if it is actually saleable stock.
Re: BB58 Strap Selection
I don't know if it's a trick of the light, or caused by the time of day the photos were taken, or maybe caused by a reflection from the strap, but it's noticeable (to me anyway) that in picture 9 the watch and bezel has a golden tint, matching the strap, whereas in the next picture, its a much cooler tone, but again matching the strap. I can see the same in other pictures but the juxtaposition of those two in particular made it stand out.

Re: BB58 Strap Selection
Well Neil I am genuinely touched by the effort you have gone to here and YES I am SOLD on the idea You're a good man.
As my first foray into "pedigree watches" this IS the one. Perhaps not an "original" choice but not any less for that.
It is indeed a remarkably versatile watch. There is not a single option there that doesn't work, although of course some more to taste than others, but just the same....
Oh, and Paul - I have seen that Vanguard strap and it looks fantastic. Can you tell me do you think it will fit my smaller 160mm wrist? The overall length is a bit more than typical.

Re: BB58 Strap Selection
Chris,
My wrist is not much bigger and it is fine with me and there are 2 more holes to go smaller so I would think you will be fine..
