‘The search for the perfect watch had to end somewhere’ is a new article detailing a watch buying path that I suspect many of you may have also taken, and it details why the C65 Trident GMT may just be the closest thing to a perfect watch I can find. Hope you enjoy it.

Wonderful read and fantastic pics! Thanks for sharing!
That feeling is true of many things, not just watches. I sometimes think it’s the thrill of the hunt I like more than the “kill.” I’ve had many a purchase where the honeymoon period wore off quickly and I was left feeling flat about the purchase.ShaunMcGill wrote: ↑Sun Feb 28, 2021 9:04 am It can be difficult to balance the initial excitement of seeing a new watch, being highly impressed by the design and then buying it against the reality of actually wearing it.

Great post! Really gets me second guessing all the reviews I read/watch...

Since I know about the watch, I was more impressed by the grammar, prose, and storytelling. Cool write up. I liked it.

"In a world where many watch people feel the need to own the watches they are told to own as part of their collections (Speedmaster, Submariner, vintage Datejust etc) it feels good to step away from that and to just enjoy an interesting timepiece from a non-heritage brand that ticks all of my boxes."
^^ ^^ Your quote from the article, not mine. But I think that thought has always been somewhere towards the front of my mind when thinking about a new watch. I personally never think about 'perfect' anything, in doing so you're just setting yourself up to fail. I just have to like it, it just has to appeal to me, simple. I enjoyed the piece...thanks for taking the time to pull it together.

Very enjoyable read, and some very thoughtful observations. Certainly some been there, done that moments. Thanks, Shaun.

“it feels good to step away from that and to just enjoy an interesting timepiece from a non-heritage brand that ticks all of my boxes." I couldn’t agree more, good read.

I enjoyed this very much. You've picked out one or two of the rabbit holes that can befall any (or all) watch enthusiasts from time to time - the need to wear a watch simply as a signal to other people, and the need to spend more and more in chasing 'perfection'. your article may save some watch enthusiasts a bit of money!
watching you fail in your quest for a “one watch” has been great entertainment

Great read and something I have learnt the hard way through cars. I always thought I would own the perfect car, but unfortunately not. Now I have a car that is the perfect fit for me, is it the fastest or most expensive I've had, no but it does everything I want and I don't care what people think, and that's my philosophy with watches. If you're comfortable with your watch as far as I'm concerned it's your perfect watch.
