That Tudor rose is a favorite of mine. Love it!
Do you know, Steve, if there’s anything to the blue sapphire on the crown beyond just looks? I’ve always found this crown intriguing and wondered if there’s more to it.

Re: Crown of the day
I think it reflects Cartier‘s heritage as a jeweller. They are probably better known to the world at large for the watches these days, but jewellery was their raison d’être.
Not everyone’s cup of tea, of course. You might find this article rather amusing – I did!

Re: Crown of the day
That was a wonderful piece. Thanks for sharing. If I wore my watch in my left hand, I might be concerned about it digging in to my wrist. But I don’t, so I’m not. I’ll admit, it’s an odd looking crown, but it’s so part and parcel to the DNA of the Tank that I don’t give it a second thought.Amor Vincit Omnia wrote: ↑Sat Aug 07, 2021 2:07 pm You might find this article rather amusing – I did!

I like to think that, with the watch being called a Tank, the crown is meant to be a reference to an artillery shell with its shape.

Crown of the day
Interesting thread idea. Even though I didn’t take a photo of it today (I did actually wear it today), here’s the crown from my Clé de Cartier. A bit different from your average round crown. And yes, it’s actually quite easy to both wind and set the time; just a different action - more of a twirling of the finger…
First up is an internet pic, followed my a stack of mine that I took after I bought it to demonstrate how it turned (as a response to some questions about it) - I’ll add them in here to shortcut the same questions again. It’s actually surprisingly simple to use.

Re: Crown of the day
This is quite difficult to photograph as the detail is quite small. It’s the IWC Probus Scafusia logo which apparently means good things from Schaffhausen. It the logo on all modern IWC crowns having replaced the fish logo which symbolised a watch was water resistant.

Re: Crown of the day
The crown of a watch, along with the dial & the caseback, often showcases an attention to detail which can reveal much about the timepiece as a whole.
Here’s one my favourites, based on the firing button on a Spitfire.

Modelled on Bavarian churches, also rather practical for handwinders which were common in the Chronoswiss lineup.
