JOMW Gets Taken Down by YOUTUBE – Reinstated on Appeal

Post by Tortoise »

If you haven’t caught up with Just One More Watch lately you might be interested in the drama that has been going on there over the last 36hrs or so….

Apparently, the entire JOMW channel was deleted by Youtube on the back of a spurious allegation that Jodi supports counterfeit watchmaking. Anyone who is a fan of JOMW would know that this is certainly not the case.

Fortunately, Jodi was able to have the channel reinstated within a short period, but the fact that Youtube can summarily extinguish an entire channel on the basis of an allegation without discussion, investigation or warning sends a dire message to content creators – especially those trying to earn income from their endeavours. What kind of governance is there? Where are the regulators? Who judges what is fair and what is not?

What is really encouraging and heartwarming is the way that the watch community rallied to support the channel…

Here is a link to Jodi’s account of the saga:

Just One More Watch Closed by Youtube

Post by JAFO »

I don't do Twitter and Instagram, but Jody on JOMW just released a video to say Google/YouTube had closed him down. He appealed, and watch reviewers around the world supported him on other platforms and he was restored promptly

He put it down to a comparison video he had made about fakes. You see these things on many channels, but it obviously is something to beware of for reviewers.

Pleased to see he's back up now, especially as it's his living, as he lost his day job in an Australian theatre during covid.
