Hey guys, just a quick reminder about the Exif geolocation information in your photos.

Taking photos outside with your cellphone means it'll most likely have obtained a good GPS fix which is then embedded into the photos you post. If someone then overlays that postion onto Google map/earth picture to verify garden/house features it's then really easy to get a definitive location of where you live. Add in previously-posted information about expensive watches, family etc and you might feel that might consitute a bit of a security risk.

I had no idea that this was possible. As I started this thread I don’t mind if the Mods delete the thread.

^^^^ there's no need to delete a good thread Richard.

Rich has given us a timely and prudent reminder of what had been published on the forum before and is a 'sticky' post in Forum-Functions.

Its up to Forum Members to decide whether they want to geotag their photos.

Raises an interesting conundrum as to whether to post any photographs on the forum.

Our little patch of green. Which, back in March was all concrete (previous owners choice). Just waiting for the long patch on the left to grow. And for the kids toys to get smaller so we can enjoy more of the lawn

. . . .or any other form of Social Media for that matter

e.g. Facebook is forever inviting me to 'add location' to my photos.

There is another option for those that:
- Want to leave their locations on photos for personal use
- But don’t want the hassle of either changing camera settings, or removing location before uploading a pic to the forum

Simply take a screen shot of the the pic that you want to post and upload the screen shot.

I was finally able to get some grass photos...Nothing fancy, just grass.

Typical suburban front lawn

Back yard - the side where the ground hogs reside.

The other side where the chipmunks and squirrels constantly play
