Please tell me this isn’t just me

Post by jkbarnes »

Does anyone else find it ridiculously satisfying when you snap that clasp on your watch closed after you’ve slipped it on your wrist in the morning? I love those mornings when the first thing I do is grab my C65 and put it on, even before I grab my glasses.

It’s not just me, right? ....RIGHT?!

See, people who don't like watches don't get the various levels we appreciate watches on. So if that snap of the clasp rocks your world, then keep enjoying it. I'm enjoying it with the C63 - first bracelet watch in a long time. You might be advised to only talk of this here, though. This is probably the only place you'll get a serious response to your question!! :D
watching you fail in your quest for a “one watch” has been great entertainment

Ah, so you remove your watch at bedtime, so you can enjoy the morning routine ?
I wonder if anyone, never removes their watch ?

That’s a good question. I like the idea of wearing my watch to bed but find it a bit too uncomfortable. I only do it in hotels.

This all assumes that the watch in question is on a bracelet or strap with a deployant clasp of some description.

What about the myriad of watches fitted with straps with a regular pin / buckle or a NATO, which require a greater level of manual dexterity that, arguably, is even more satisfying to achieve?

This is purely a bracelet experience for me. Strapping on a watch with a traditional buckle just doesn’t do it for me. A Bader deployant comes close.

Since my wife put on her 70s Oysterdate for the 1st time a month ago, its only been off her wrist for showers. Gives me anxiety wearing a watch in bed 😳
I like the nice snap of a well engineered bracelet catch, almost as much as the 'thunk' of a good car door closure.

Bought a watch once that didn’t snap, you had to press the release buttons to close it. Sold it pretty quickly and didn’t regret it.

Particularly pleasing when it’s a double snap closure.

Roll out of bed. Pick up watch from carpet. Snap, snap and off downstairs to put on the kettle.

I agree doing up a watch on a strap just doesn’t cut it.
