Thanks again everyone! I’ve compiled a list of all the suggestions, about half of which look to be readily available here in Virginia.

For a classic smooth Gin, try Tanqueray No.10..but make sure it's the No.10 and not the normal stuff which I think you've mentioned.
Also, for something a little different, try King of Soho - it's probably my favourite gin. Although, I'm not sure how readily available it'd be in the US.
I can also vouch for Opihr - a heavily spiced gin. Silent Pool is indeed very nice. In fact, the distillery is only around half hr away from where I live.

The wife went to Wales last summer and was introduced to Aber Falls small batch orange marmalade gin. Excellent imo.

I've always got a few different bottles on the go (it's my go to spirit) and it's hard to find an all time favourite. Mostly I prefer to have a g&t with lime and juniper berries thrown in it.

However, a stand out from the last year has been Chapel Down's Bacchus gin. Best served with a slice of orange.

First tried this at a micro/boutique pub last year and subsequently bought a bottle (or 2). Its a really really good gin and I second the recommendation.

*Cracks Knuckles*

Are you a savoury botanticals, traditional botanicals or even a touch of sweetness kind of person?

Savoury
Ophir (Spice) - Everyday
Gin Mare (rosemary) - Mid range
Oli Gin Current - Guilty pleasure.

Traditional Botanicals
Sipsmith - Everyday
Adnams Copper House/First Rate - Mid Range
Roku - Guilty pleasure

Fruit(NOT LIQUERS, A Gin first with fruity notes, the fruit goes into the Distiller)
Brockmans (Distilled with the fruit in the Distiller so not a syrupy nonsense), definitely not a sweet fancy this is a proper gin. Wifes Favourite
Puerto de indias (This one is the closest to a liquer on the list but it is a gin with botanicals and it is a good summer evening, long drink gin often go onto this later in the evening if I have been at the Navy strength early doors)

Key
Everyday = share with friends, take to a party, wife says do you fancy a..
Mid Range = Weekends on our own or sharing with friends who know and like Gin
Guilty Pleasure = MY PRECIOUS. DId you save my life once? Ok you can have a single.

With apologies I didnt check the price points from a US point of view.

As a college friend used to always say, it’s 5 o’clock somewhere!

While I posted around noon (my time), I won’t be sampling it until later this evening.

He or she was a wise friend indeed! Well, the grass is cut on the first sunny day for quite a while, I have been spending a proportion of the afternoon attacking the beech hedge, and I am enjoying the first Tanq and Fever Tree of the evening.

A Pilsner after a nice walk along the towpath this afternoon. The Botanist comes later when I start grilling a steak.

Steak is getting ready to go in the grill. Time to try The Botanist.
