Delighted to be able to get up close to the Bristol Brittania XM496 at Kemble airport. She was used as an RAF transport from 1960 to 1975

https://www.xm496.com/

.. and flew (spectacularly) into Kemble in 1997.

Scooter, Might be a bit of a journey, but you weren't out and about on this near Weymouth again today were you?

KCM

Weymouth on The Focus (electric bicycle) would be just a little too far for me to go unfortunately.

I thought as much. Am down in the Weymouth area on hols and passed an ebike today with someone resembling you (from pictures you'd previously posted) Then just saw your beautiful Chesil Beach pic and linked the two things together.

You certainly get to tour some nice areas on your eBike/ Monkey adventures!

Edit: just add we're only here a week so have squeezed in Lyme Regis West Bay, Swanage, Portland and Weymouth. Portland (at sunset) was great, first time I've been there. West Bay has changed a lot since my last visit 10 or so years ago

Thanks KCM

This is my favourite photograph taken near Hive Beach, Burton Bradstock some years ago.

It's not been photoshopped at all and is of my wife and her friend.

Enjoy the rest of your holiday.

Thanks, Scooter. That is a stunning photo. The Dorset coastline is incredible especially with a sunsetting backdrop. No doubt that you should have that picture framed somewhere in your house.

We're lucky to get away on holiday this year, so are making the most of our time here.

Thanks for sharing the pic

Strangely we do have a framed painting of Hive Beach in our living room above the fireplace alongside a photograph I had taken of the same scene. It shows a timber cabin that we were lucky enough to stay in some years ago.

You are in a beautiful part of the south coast with staggeringly lovely scenery.

Without wishing to hijack this thread in any way, ive just lost my bike license....

Im only posting, as theres obviously a lot of bikers on here. After loads of calls to DVLA and various other places, it seems there was a big drama with people who passed their test around 1998-2000 ish. Their license entitlements have been deleted. Im stunned.....

Two local driving schools have told me that tens of thousands of bikers and truckers have experienced this. Has anyone heard about it or experienced it??? Ive googled it and it appears it was a massive scandal, but ive only discovered it as ive looked in to buying another bike after being off them a good few years. I was a cop for over 16yrs and id never heard of it. Im absolutely fuming, as ive now got to do my cbt, theory test???? And then direct access.
DVLA are not interested.

I've not heard of this either, and it does sound like a mess.

On the bright side, doing you CBT, theory and DAS will really bring your skills up to date and for anyone with a good bit of prior experience the CBT/DAS etc are really pretty straightforward.

BBC's Watchdog did a programme on this back in 2009.

There is little that you can do about it.

Having done CBTs every two years since 2008 to date I have come across a couple of fellow applicants who have fallen foul of this and have had to go 'through the system' again.

One was extremely embittered at the start but admitted after completing his CBT successfully that he had enjoyed the experience and was going to go through the current procedures to regain his licence.

^^^ cheers guys. I totally get what you're saying on the "re-skill" Richard. Its a fair point my angry head hasnt considered so thanks!!!

Im glad im not the only one Scooter, cheers bud!
I think its the cost part thats peeved me the most. I must say, doing a theory test for the first time ever, doesnt appeal either, but guess itll be a needs must for the new year!

Hopefully in the new year I can contribute to this thread properly! (Im too bone idle to take my mountain bike out these days!!!)
