I'm not sure how much longer before the weather changes.

Hope you enjoyed your day in North Wales earlier this week.

You are right to make hay. I did enjoy the day in Wales, although I paid for it by getting soaked the next day right at the end of my blood bike shift. :D

I intend to have a couple of hours on the Multi tomorrow morning. Might take a picture if I actually stop for long enough.

I saw a blood biker on the way to Bath this evening.

I wondered whether it might have been StrapMeister as I know from photographs that he is often nearby.

Definitely my patch but not me this time as I'm not on shift this weekend but almost certainly one of ours en-route delivering to Bath RUH Pathology Lab.

Thanks for that Nigel.

I thought I recalled a photograph of your bike at the BP Warminster SS which is relatively near to me.

Yes that's right - I'm on, what's called, the East patch which covers Chippenham > Warminster > Frome > Paulton > Bath and everywhere in between.
There's also the odd trip to Swindon thrown in as well.
Our West patch guys are usually the ones that do handovers with other groups as things often need to get to Bristol or further North via the M5.

Don't see many of these nowadays................Hop gardens!

The East Kent village I grew up in was surrounded by Apple orchards and Hop gardens, there are virtually none of either nowadays. Increasingly the south facing slopes of the North Downs are being turned over to vineyards! Chalky soil plus climate change in action I suppose.
I love the smell when riding around at this time of year and the hops are being picked, My primary school was directly opposite a hop drying kiln with tractors and trailers piled high with hops going backwards and forwards all day. Such an evocative smell.

Terrific day in mid Wales today including the magical A483 south of Newtown.

The weather was spot on. Here’s a couple of pictures from the road above Llyn Brianne reservoir, which seemed to have a very low water level (although I have no clue how it normally looks at this time of year)

Correct on both fronts, scooter. It was mostly new territory for me, and certainly somewhere I'd be keen to revisit. Here's a couple more images from yesterday and today...

^^^^ Not so much fun if you were in a car, Richard?

The road look a bite narrow and bumpy.

Cars are just for transport, Guy. Bikes are for exploring. :veg:

Looks like a great trip Richard- and you've lucked out with the weather! How are you findling longer trips on the new Duke?

Yeah, the weather was a real bonus. Both days were clear, dry and warm. Everything you could ask for, especially in September.

As for the bike, we did about 420 miles over 2 days, roughly 12 hours of actual riding. The bike was very comfortable, handled all situations (including a ford that looked damn slippy). The tank range is a comfortable 200 miles and I enjoyed every mile.

I've been mulling over the "what if you could only keep one of the Multi or the GS?" question. It would be a tough call. For day to day riding the Multi is great - a bit lighter, a bit more agile and a bit more engaging. For a week long trip, I think the GS is better with more carrying capacity, even more comfort and a more relaxing ride.

Answer. Keep both. :)

Out on IAM observation duties this morning. Fortunately, the fuel crisis has abated in this part of England. No queues at the fuel station here...
