When I was reading your description of “stormy clouds, my peripheral vision was telling me there was a photo of a lovely sunny sky, with light clouds. To me, somewhat similar, it was the contrast of the bright sky with high cloud versus the low dark clouds, and their relative formation.
All coupled with light from a low sun, about an hour after sunrise, behind the low dark clouds (halfway right of centre).
