IIRC DOMinion, ROMford etc were the names, based on locations, of the GPO (later to become British Telecom or BT) telephone exchanges and the first 3 letters translated to the exchanges dialling numbers on the telephone dial.
SIMPLES. Until everybody wanted a telephone.

^^ Possibly too big, so I've reduced the image sizes.
a couple more, from the top of the Spanish Steps with a very accurate sundial (not sure about the clock on the left).
our rooftop apartment, 2 mins from the very same steps and in the heart of the retail district
and the watch of choice, something reliable but not flashy enough to stand out.
