Fabulous Lindsey and he looks lovely. Think its a great idea, I'm completely sold on the therapeutic abilities of animals.

Looks like a cute little stealth dog, just a flash of white under his chin? You'll have to be careful he doesn't sneak up and scare the patients :lol:

@missF that’s great news.

I’m not a dog owner but I’ve two friends that have Cockerpoos’ and they’ve both the most wonderfully sociable and endearing dogs.

Another terrific looking dog!!..
Ebels are a lot like women that lack a lowcut dress that zips up the side..neither gets the love that they deserve..

For some time now I've been thinking of rehoming a retired greyhound. They make gentle and tolerant pets. But I was refused on the grounds that I have mental health problems. I was very honest with the rescue centre because I always think that's the best policy, but they basically suggested that having mental health problems means that I'm too unstable and irresponsible to have a greyhound. My friend who's a dog owner even offered to write me a kind of reference, but they didn't take us up on that offer. Never even invited me out to meet me. I've never experienced stigma or discrimination before based on my history of mental health problems, so this really galled me. There was nothing I could do to change their minds.

However, an idea had been gradually forming alongside this one - what if I was to get a cockapoo puppy (known for being super friendly and intelligent), train it well, then register it as a therapet??? When I was in hospital I used to love the Thursday visits from the therapet. I understand how powerful pets can be at making you feel calm and relaxed. More than that - I'd really be able to give something back and feel like I might be of some use in the world.

So! This morning I visited a litter near Edinburgh, and had three boys to choose from. I'd like you to meet Nova - chosen because his tail never stopped wagging, and he even left his brothers playing to come over and put his paws up on my knee to say hello!

Nova will come home with me in 3-4 weeks, and the hard work (and fun!) will begin!!

This is how she spends 90% of her day. The other 10% is on me in some capacity.

Concerning the scrutiny you went through, upon adopting our 3rd pet (two dogs and a cat) from the SAME shelter, we were treated as though they had never heard of us before. Forms and questionnaires,
Thought they were going to make me take a polygraph. Would have been easier getting accepted into training for the CIA. Anyway, congrats on the new pup. You'll soon wonder what your life was like beforehand
Time and money? I’ve spent most of mine on booze and women. The rest I just wasted…

There is definitely an element of that! However, it seems wherever I sit seems to be the spot she wants to sleep.
