Re: What's for dinner?
Using a Slow Cooker is fine, at times, but I now prefer to use a cast iron casserole (Le Creuset type, mine's from Tesco).
Benefit is, you brown the meat in the casserole, then add the rest of the ingredients and pop in the oven.
Saves washing up a frying pan.

Thanks Lance, it was really incredible.
All locally sourced produce too.
All the dishes were explained properly at the table and where it all came from locally.

A feast on the deck tonight! A nearly perfectly cooked NY strip, grilled corn, and a side salad. All washed down with my last beer

Re: What's for dinner?
Saganaki…my own take on a Graeco-Cypriot favourite. King prawns, onion and sliced mushrooms oven baked with fresh oregano and cherry tomatoes, and topped with slices of Cyprus halloumi. Served with spicy rice and a nice glass of chilled Chablis.
Strawberries and oat “yoghurt” to follow.
Food is in the oven. Opihr and Fever Tree going down nicely.
EDIT: rather delicious!

Re: What's for dinner?
not quite dinner yet, but today is my annual sauce day.
75lbs of tomatoes (3 half bushel boxes)
6-7 lbs of onions.
6 bulbs of garlic.
2+ whole basil plants (maybe 5 cups?)
Crapload of salt.
Big stack of frozen Parmesan rinds.
Now in the slow cook-down phase. Right now about 35 quarts, will probably cook down to about 25 or so.
