Re: What's for dinner?
It’s pretty straight forward once you have it all in front of you, but it’s not something everyone just knows unless you’re from there.blowfish89 wrote:Innocent mistake, I think.

Re: What's for dinner?
Belated post from yesterday afternoon and evening.
Not a huge achievement in the great realm of things but I'm feeling a bit chuffed with my first solo baking effort.
OK its not Bake Off standard but it's very tasty.
Grandmother's Yiddish Cheesecake.
Yummy......

^^ Yum!
I wonder how a Yiddish cheesecake differs from a baked 'New York' style..?

Baked a few Welsh cakes to bring some cheer to this miserable, wet Sunday ...
Technically not for dinner, but I'll most definitely sink a few afterwards!

A great way to take my mind off the foul weather. Fresh out of the sea this morning

AVO’s Drunken Pork...
Marinated in cider, garlic and chilli then slow cooked with spring onions, carrots, sage and oregano. Finished by reducing the cooking liquor with Calvados and cream. Rather tasty!

I have to get out the old slow cooker and have a go at this one. Looks fab.Amor Vincit Omnia wrote:AVO’s Drunken Pork...

Re: What's for dinner?
Cheers, Nick. Well I enjoyed it!
I don’t use set recipes for these things – just general principles and make up a few details as I go along. I find that as long as you use good quality fresh ingredients it’s difficult to go too far wrong with a slow cooker.

It's one of those seriously underrated and oft overlooked cooking methods.Amor Vincit Omnia wrote:Cheers, Nick. Well I enjoyed it!

Provided you brown the meat first, and reduce the cooking juices (or as in your case then add cream and calvados which is sheer genius!!) they are a great way of producing a flippin tasty meal!!!
