Batons or Blobs....?
Re: Batons or Blobs....?
I was going to say I don’t mind either. Then when I thought about my collection and those that have gone recently, I realised I’ve not owned a blob watch.
Batons, Arabic numerals or a combination of both for me.

Re: Batons or Blobs....?
Batons win by a whisker over blobs and Arabic numerals in equal numbers. The only markers I try to avoid are Roman numerals, I just don’t like them.
How would you categorise square blobs?

Re: Batons or Blobs....?
I'd go batons over blobs on a new watch, but I find blobs more visually enjoyable - whimsical maybe? I also like Arabic but not always a full dial of them...
My favourite markers are the Pelagos square blobs and the way they're cut into the multi level dial. So I guess that means I like both?

Tool watch: blobs
Dress/everyday watch: batons.
I think a diver for me needs blobs. That’s probably why I don’t think I’d ever pull the trigger on the current C60 Trident.

Re: Batons or Blobs....?
Depending on the type of watch I am relaxed about any of the following:
- Mix of round blobs and batons
- Mix of short square batons and batons
- batons
- Mix of Arabic and batons
- Full Arabic
- Mix of Romans and batons
- Full Romans
- Mix of triangle and batons
- No dial markings
To be too prescriptive by only entertaining the thought of a couple of styles (or even one style) seems to me rather limiting.

If it works it works, if it doesn't, moving right along. I think it's all in how the space is used. Quite like a good old-fashioned number.

Re: Batons or Blobs....?
The fact I have never really consciously thought about this tell me that it doesn't matter much. Having looked, I have about 6 or 7 of each so it confirms that it is the overall "look" of the watch rather than a specific blob/baton preference that I go for.

No specific preference, although I like Arabic numerals too.
It all depends on how they look in the overall design of the watch.

Re: Batons or Blobs....?
What a great question, one that I have never given any thought to. I seem to have no preference when I look at my collection. I think I the overall appearance of each watch, it's aesthetic, how beautiful it looks is a sum of the elements on the dial and the bracelet that the designer has used. I have never really noticed the individual elements just how it all works together as a whole.
Having said all that when I look at my collection, I am open to Arabic, Arabic and batons, Batons only and blobs. The only thing that I have trouble with is Roman Numerals. Like everything that will likely change when I find one with the other great elements and Roman Numerals that catches my eye.
Cheers, Mike.
