Utilized in early mechanical clocks and later introduced into pocket watches in the mid seventeenth century , the chain and fusee was the first significant mechanism to improve isochronism .

Interesting article. By my understanding the issue of isochronism must explain why the SH21 5 day movement operates to COSC as long as it has more than 2 days power reserve left, thereafter accuracy is a smidgeon less.
