Re: The Silicon Spiral - The Final Revolution
Times move on and modernize. Keeping tradition to a certain point is all well and good. But silicon spring is where it's at. You could argue quartz should do away with all mechanical . But there's a difference is doing away with something or just upgrading it a little. Halogen bulbs to led as an example as opposed to candle and bulb.

Re: The Silicon Spiral - The Final Revolution
An interesting article. Ultra-enthusiasts will always pursue their interest in a slightly different way to most of us.
For me, an electric car would do fine if it fitted in with my means and needs. Some people would find it anathema. I’m perfectly happy with a nice music system that plays CDs to a good standard at home, and one in my simple but efficient car that I can plug a USB stick into. For others, turntables and valve amps are the thing. I like decent espresso and have a Nespresso machine, but I know some people like the bean to cup machines or the specialist grinder and machine separates.
Watches tell the time. I’m fine with quartz as well but enough of a purist and enthusiast to prefer mechanical watches. I care to some extent what’s inside them, but if a new piece of technology makes it run better, why not? Silicon springs, sure, as long as they work. Might take a while to filter fully into the more affordable realms anyway.

Re: The Silicon Spiral - The Final Revolution
I haven’t any opinion on silicon springs, but I’m excited anytime some works the word anathema into a conversation!
