An excellent article,thank you for the link. Give it a couple of years and the same thing will be a tenth of the size and still able to be printed on easily obtainable 3d printers.

I think that sintered metal 3d printing is going to be the solution to Swatch not wanting to sell parts for its movements, as well as maintaining out-of-production movements. Independent parts makers will be able to print parts to order, allowing watchmakers to access parts for any watch movement for which drawings exist. As the technology matures it should be cheaper and faster than making parts by hand.

Good point. Will be sad if it comes to that though despite being good for our bank balances.
